Job Title: IT Build Specialist – Governance & Patching
Location: Greater Toronto Area (GTA), Canada

We are seeking an experienced IT Build Specialist to act as a governance enforcer embedded within patching and infrastructure teams in a regulated Financial Services environment. This role is critical in supporting audit remediation efforts and ensuring adherence to governance standards across a complex, federated technology landscape.
The ideal candidate will bring hands-on technical expertise in build, patching, and infrastructure environments, combined with a strong understanding of governance, risk, and compliance requirements.
- Embed within patching and infrastructure teams to enforce governance standards and controls
- Ensure compliance with enterprise patching policies, timelines, and audit requirements
- Support remediation efforts across a federated patching program involving 30+ teams and 50+ asset classes
- Contribute to the closure of high-severity internal audit findings
- Work closely with audit, risk, and compliance teams to address control gaps
- Ensure proper documentation, evidence collection, and audit readiness
- Perform and support system builds, configurations, and patch deployments
- Validate that builds and updates align with security and compliance standards
- Troubleshoot issues related to patching, deployment, and system configurations
- Support the establishment of a net-new governance function from the ground up
- Assist in defining processes, controls, and reporting mechanisms
- Promote consistency and standardization across teams
- Collaborate with Internal Audit, Operational Risk Management (ORM), and CIO-level stakeholders
- Act as a liaison between technical teams and governance functions
- Provide status updates, risk insights, and remediation progress reporting
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in IT build, infrastructure, or patching roles
- Mandatory experience within Banking or regulated Financial Services environments
- Strong understanding of patch management processes and system build standards
- Experience supporting audit remediation and compliance initiatives
- Hands-on experience with enterprise infrastructure environments (Windows, Linux, or similar)
- Ability to work across multiple teams in a complex, matrixed environment
- Experience working in governance, risk, or compliance-driven programs
- Familiarity with vulnerability management and patching tools
- Understanding of regulatory and audit expectations in Financial Services
- Experience contributing to governance frameworks or control environments
- Strong attention to detail and compliance-focused mindset
- Problem-solving and analytical thinking
- Effective communication and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to balance technical execution with governance requirements
- Prior experience in Banking or regulated Financial Services is non-negotiable
- Ability to work onsite or in a hybrid model within the GTA region (as required)
