invites applications for
Land-based Educator & Land Stewardship Coordinator (full time, one year term)
Key Responsibilities:
Land-Based Education
Facilitate and co-facilitate engaging, land-based learning experiences students across K-12.
Co-design and deliver experiential, culture-based programming.
Develop and curate educational resources to support both learners and educators.
Foster cultural awareness, safety, and competency in all programming.
Contribute to ongoing planning, evaluation, and growth of Centre programs and initiatives.
Collaboration and Community Engagement:
Work closely with Elders, Knowledge Holders, programs leaders, educators, and learners.
Contribute to a respectful, inclusive, and relationship-centered learning environment.
Land Stewardship
Maintain and steward indoor and outdoor learning spaces.
Lead the division-wide composting program.
Co-lead stewardship of food and medicinal gardens, the greenhouse, and restoration areas.
Coordinate seasonal stewardship activities integrated with student learning.
Support training and supervision of seasonal staff.
Qualifications and Skills
We are seeking someone who brings a strong balance of teaching experience and land-based knowledge and skills, along with a deep respect for the Earth and Indigenous ways of knowing.
Experience facilitating land-based learning experiences and cultural activities.
Ability to design and implement experiential learning opportunities.
Hands-on experience with land-based practices (e.g., harvesting, conservation, gardening, composting).
Knowledgeable about local Indigenous cultures, worldviews, and histories.
Strong organizational, communication, and relationship-building skills.
Comfort working outdoors year-round in all weather conditions.
Ability to perform physically demanding tasks (walking, lifting, gardening, cooking, etc.).
Ability to lift 40lbs (compost related tasks).
Valid class 5 Driver’s License.
Valid First Aid and CPR/AED Level A certification (or willingness to obtain upon employment).
Priority will be given to qualified candidates who self-identify as Indigenous.
Ability to speak a First Nations language would be considered an asset.
