The primary role of this position is to prepare samples for testing in the metallurgical lab and perform duties in a safe manner.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain work area in a clean, safe and orderly manner
- Cut samples for testing using the provided equipment and instructions
- Sand and polish samples for testing Measure surface hardness
- Measure core hardness and case depth
- Cut sections and mount samples in preparation for metallurgical analysis
- Perform monthly containment testing
- Document results of the above in a clear and accurate manner
- Work within or exceed production time standards
- Work in a safe manner in accordance with health and safety standard
- Additional Responsibilities : Other duties as assigned
- Specifications:
- Minimum 5 years Metallurgical experience with focus on heat treating processes
- Prior experience and understanding of ISO, TS16949 and CQI-9 processes an asset
- Prior experience setting up heat treat labs a definite asset
- Visual and dimensional attention to detail is required to determine product compliance
- Working knowledge of basic statistical techniques and capability analysis
- Must have good computer skills in a windows environment
- Be comfortable with changing priorities and have a sense of urgency & professionalism
