Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to join our team as a Sous Chef. As a sous, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of our food service establishment under the direction of the Executive Chef. This is a leadership role that requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, effective communication skills, and a passion for delivering an exceptional dining experience.
Our food program offers an approachable elevated dining experience from a brand new kitchen located on the stunning Sagebrush Golf Course. We will be showcasing premium locally sourced and foraged ingredients, ethically and sustainably sourced farmed and wild produce and proteins, and most importantly a dedication to highlighting the flavours of Nicola Valley.
Duties:
- Supervise and coordinate the activities of kitchen staff to ensure efficient and smooth operations
- Oversee food preparation, ensuring high quality and adherence to food safety standards
- Monitor inventory levels and order supplies as needed
- Train and mentor new employees, providing guidance on proper food handling techniques and customer service
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards in the kitchen and dining areas
- Handle dietary and allergy restrictions in a professional manner
- Collaborate with management to develop and implement strategies for improving operational efficiency and customer satisfaction
Requirements:
- Previous experience in the food service industry, preferably in a supervisory or management role
- Strong knowledge of kitchen operations, food safety regulations, and hospitality best practices
- Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire a team
- Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required
