Our client is seeking an experienced Health & Safety Manager to lead and strengthen workplace safety initiatives across their organization. Compensation & Hours:
- The rate of pay will be based on experience and industry standards
- Monday through Friday, daytime hours
Position Summary:
- Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of health and safety programs, policies, and procedures
- Ensure compliance with provincial, federal, and industry-specific health and safety regulations
- Conduct workplace inspections, audits, hazard assessments, and risk mitigation initiatives
- Investigate incidents, near misses, and workplace injuries while identifying root causes and corrective actions
- Develop and deliver safety training, orientations, and educational programs for employees and leaders
- Monitor safety metrics, trends, and compliance reporting to identify opportunities for improvement
- Support operational leaders in promoting a strong safety culture throughout the organization
- Manage safety certifications, audits, and regulatory reporting requirements as applicable
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years of progressive health and safety experience, including leadership responsibilities
- Strong working knowledge of Alberta Occupational Health & Safety legislation, regulations, and industry best practices
- Proven experience developing, implementing, and improving health and safety programs, policies, and procedures
- Demonstrated ability to conduct investigations, audits, inspections, hazard assessments, and corrective action planning
- Exceptional communication, coaching, and relationship-building skills with the ability to influence employees and leaders at all levels
Bonus Points For:
- A professional designation such as NCSO, CRSP, CHSC, or equivalent
- Experience within manufacturing, industrial, construction, transportation, agriculture, or other high-compliance environments
- Experience managing COR or other recognized safety management systems
- Training or certification in incident investigation, risk management, or continuous improvement methodologies
