Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Concept Design Instructor to teach within our Concept Design Diploma Program. The successful candidate will deliver industry-focused instruction, mentor students, provide professional critiques, and help students develop portfolio-quality work that meets current entertainment industry standards.
This position is ideal for an experienced concept artist who enjoys teaching and helping students grow both creatively and professionally.
Responsibilities
- Teach college-level concept design courses in a classroom environment
- Deliver engaging lectures, demonstrations, and project-based instruction
- Guide students through the complete concept design workflow
- Provide constructive critiques and individualized feedback
- Help students strengthen design thinking, visual communication, and problem-solving skills
- Assess assignments and maintain accurate student records
- Prepare lesson plans and instructional materials
- Collaborate with faculty to maintain curriculum quality and industry relevance
- Mentor students in portfolio development and career preparation
- Foster a positive, supportive, and professional learning environment
Preferred Areas of Expertise
Applicants should have strong knowledge in several of the following areas:
- Environment Design
- Character Design
- Prop & Vehicle Design
- Visual Development
- Perspective and Composition
- Color & Lighting
- Design Theory
- Digital Painting
- Blender or other 3D workflows for concept design
- Photobashing and modern concept art workflows
- Production pipeline for games, animation, or film
Qualifications
- Professional experience as a Concept Artist, Visual Development Artist, or related role
- Strong portfolio demonstrating professional-quality concept design work
- Minimum 3 years of industry experience preferred
- Previous teaching or mentoring experience is an asset
- Excellent drawing, design, and communication skills
- Strong proficiency in Photoshop
- Experience with Blender, 3D software, or AI-assisted workflows is considered an asset
- Ability to inspire and motivate students
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Eligible to work in Canada
