About the Opportunity
Mackenzie Personnel is hiring a Plant Liaison on behalf of our logistics and supply chain client who provides supply chain solutions to leading Tier 1 automotive and OEM manufacturers. This is an on-site resident quality role based at a major OEM vehicle assembly plant in the Oakville area.
You will be the face of the supplier inside the customer's plant — the person the OEM's quality and production teams come to when there's an issue, and the person who protects your employer's quality record when that issue isn't theirs. It is a high-visibility, high-autonomy position for someone who is comfortable holding their ground with data.
What You'll Do:
- Act as the key on-site contact between the supplier and the customer's plant personnel — SQEs, managers, supervisors, and team members — maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction
- Provide daily notification of customer plant issues, whether quality, engineering, or production related
- Maintain the customer concern and countermeasure list for plant issues
- Communicate customer concerns immediately to senior management and the appropriate department managers
- Collect and manage distribution of non-conformance data relating to customer concerns, PPMs, and PRRs
- Review, negotiate, and where warranted dispute or reject customer rejections using data or empirical knowledge, ensuring recordable events are accurate and fairly issued
- Develop and sustain tracking systems for Return Material Authorizations (RMA), Defective Material Tickets (DMT), returns, and debit memos
- Ensure corrective action reports are developed, submitted to the customer on time, and accepted
- Conduct non-conformance investigation and associated containment activities
- Implement and coordinate sort, containment, and rework services with business unit managers, quality engineers, and team leaders
- Conduct random audits of finished goods and report results to senior management
- Establish boundary samples and visual aids for customer quality standards, collecting customer sign-off to clarify physical or appearance requirements
- Provide PPAP, PSW, and APQP support, along with Q-1 / OEM endorsement support
- Inspect product and audit processes against drawing requirements; verify conformance of parts and assemblies to standards and specifications
- Collect data and provide feedback to improve statistical process control (SPC)
- Provide program management and engineering change support
- Distribute customer performance charts, data, and reports to management for reviews
- Support visits and meetings at the customer site, resolving quality and warranty issues as required
- Track and reduce rejected inventory
- Work at the customer production line where participation is required
- Follow all company and customer safety guidelines, standards, and procedures
What You Bring:
- 3–5 years in an automotive quality environment, preferably in a customer-facing, resident quality, or plant liaison capacity
- Working knowledge of PPAP, PSW, APQP, and Q-1 / OEM endorsement processes
- Experience managing customer quality metrics (PPMs and PRRs) and negotiating or disputing recordable events with a customer
- Knowledge of wire harness inspection standards
- Experience with non-conformance investigation, containment, sort, and rework activities
- Familiarity with statistical process control (SPC) and structured corrective action reporting (8D)
- Knowledge of ISO / IATF 16949 quality standards
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong time management and organizational skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong customer service orientation and a hands-on commitment to getting the job done
