Job Title: Behaviour Interventionist
Must have experience with Children and Youth with exceptional needs
Job Summary:
The Behaviour Interventionist (BI) will directly provide client care to indigenous children within the school and classroom setting. You will be expected to effectively communicate with school and education staff members regarding client progress as instructed by the Board Certified Behaviour Analyst while being respectful of the cultural environment, traditions and teachings.You will assist the teacher and school staff with supervision of activities, recess, breaks and field trips. You will support during instructional periods and complete any daily tasks requested by the teacher and/or educational support staff.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
May include but not limited to:
- Provide direct coaching of behavioural strategies with teachers and TAs if requested.
- Assist with supervision during instructional periods, recess, lunch and field trips.
- Provide a safe, appropriate, caring and nurturing environment when working with clients.
- Provide direct client care in assigned 1:1 and group settings utilizing a combination of intensive teaching and natural environment training arrangements as directed by the clinician or supervisor.
- Implement all clinical skills instruction and behaviour reduction protocols based upon the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis to children with Autism and related developmental disabilities in the home, community, and school settings.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work and therapy environment within the school.
- Attend and complete all mandatory professional development opportunities.
- Follow all policies and procedures as specified in the employee handbook including confidentiality and adhere to HIPPA laws
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
May include but not limited to:
- Ability to develop and maintain professional relationships with clients, co-workers, supervisors, and community members.
- Ability to work as a positive team member within the school environment.
- Ability to implement clinical protocols, programming, data collection and case notes.
- Must have visual acuity to read and comprehend written communication through computer, electronic devices, and paper means.
- Must be able to lift, carry and maintain a variety of postures to complete all necessary teaching and cleaning duties as specified.
- Must be willing and able to blockhold/transport and utilize quick body movements as instructed in any Behavior Intervention Plans while working with children with challenging behavior.
- Ability to accept constructive feedback and develop knowledge and skill sets accordingly.
- Effective time management skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks at one time.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent technology skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently, with a minimum of supervision required.
- Commitment to ongoing training and development as it relates to clinical skills, professional development, ethics, and technology, and training in order to perform job responsibilities to required standards.
- Maintain a professional appearance with regard to clothing, grooming, hair, and make-up at all times.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A Diploma in Behavioural Interventions, Child and Youth Care, Educational Assistant, Early Childhood Educator, Disability Supports and Services, Social Services Worker or equivalent/higher education preferred.
- Experience within similar fields will be considered.
- Experience implementing evidence based support and programming to children and youth clients preferred.
- Must have current police record check including the vulnerable sector check
- Must have a valid Driver’s License & insurance in good standing
**All positions are Full Time Contracts from September 2026-June 2027 with the potential to renew the following school year.
**Competitive salaries based on qualifications and work experience.
Pay: $20.00-$30.00 per hour
