The City of Abbotsford’s Engineering & Transportation department is seeking a motivated Civil Engineer in Training (EIT) to join their dynamic team, on a one-year term. As an integral member of the Transportation team, you will support the planning, design, and implementation of transportation infrastructure programs and projects while gaining hands-on experience under the guidance of senior engineering staff.
In this role, you will contribute to a variety of technical assignments, including the analysis of data, preparation of engineering reports, and review of traffic management plans and layouts. You will assist with site assessments, field investigations, and the preparation of technical and council reports, including design calculations, drawings, and regulatory submissions. You will also investigate and respond to resident concerns related to transportation and traffic issues.
Thorough knowledge of engineering principles, municipal standards, and applicable guidelines is essential in this position as you apply sound judgment to solve moderately complex problems and determine appropriate methods and approaches. You will work collaboratively with internal teams and consultants, contributing to the delivery of safe and effective transportation solutions while continuing to develop your technical skills.
In this position, your day-to-day responsibilities will be varied, ranging from conducting data analysis and supporting design work to assisting in resolving traffic-related challenges and collaborating with team members on ongoing projects. As part of a supportive and experienced team, you will gain valuable exposure to municipal engineering practices and processes.
Your technical foundation, along with your analytical, organizational, and communication skills, will make you an asset to the team.
As the ideal candidate you have:
- Relevant university degree or diploma in Civil Engineering
- Eligibility for registration with EGBC and working toward a P.Eng. designation
- Up to two (2) years of related experience
- Valid Class 5 BC Driver’s Licence

Salary: $89,453 - $105,523.60
