About Prime Potential Volleyball Academy
Prime Potential Volleyball Academy is building a different kind of volleyball development program for athletes ages 11–17.
Our Academy combines high-level technical coaching, competitive play, video analysis and player analytics to help athletes understand their game, identify areas for improvement and accelerate their development.
We are currently building our coaching team for our 11-week Fall Academy beginning September 26, 2026, as well as looking for coaches who may be interested in growing with Prime Potential into future camps, clinics, open gyms and Prime Pythons rep teams.
The Coach We’re Looking For
We’re not looking for someone to simply stand beside a court and run drills.
We want hands-on coaches who teach.
You should be able to watch an athlete perform a skill, recognize what needs to change, clearly explain the correction and work with that athlete until they begin to improve.
We’re looking for coaches who:
- Have a strong understanding of competitive volleyball
- Actively coach and correct athletes throughout training
- Can teach proper technique and explain the why behind it
- Communicate effectively with athletes ages 11–17
- Push athletes while maintaining a positive and supportive environment
- Hold athletes accountable for effort, attitude and coachability
- Understand that mistakes are an important part of development
- Bring energy, enthusiasm and professionalism to the gym
- Work collaboratively as part of a larger coaching staff
- Are reliable and consistently available Saturdays from 2:00 PM–5:00 PM
No egos.
Our coaches need to collaborate, communicate and put athlete development first.
Responsibilities
Coaches will work with athletes grouped according to skill and developmental level and help develop:
- Serving and serve receive
- Passing and defensive technique
- Setting
- Attacking and approach mechanics
- Blocking and net play
- Footwork and movement
- Court awareness and decision-making
- Communication and volleyball IQ
- Competitive game situations
The final portion of Academy sessions includes competitive play that is recorded for video analysis and player development.
Coaches will help athletes connect what they learn during training with what actually happens during competition.
Who Should Apply?
We’re particularly interested in:
- Experienced OVA/club volleyball coaches
- Former university or college volleyball players
- Former high-level rep athletes with coaching potential
- High-school or volleyball academy coaches
- NCCP-trained or certified coaches
Playing or coaching experience at McMaster, Redeemer, Mohawk or another university/college program is considered an asset.
We are particularly interested in coaches with strong positional knowledge in setting, outside hitting, defence/libero and all-around skill development.
You don’t necessarily need years of coaching experience.
If you’ve played volleyball at a high level, understand the game and have the leadership, communication skills and personality to become an excellent youth coach, we want to hear from you.
What We Offer
$30–$50 per hour, depending on playing experience, coaching experience, qualifications and coaching role.
More importantly, this doesn’t have to be an 11-week job.
Prime Potential is being built for the long term. Strong coaches may have opportunities to become involved with:
- Future Academy programs
- Camps and clinics
- Open gyms
- Specialized positional training
- Future Prime Pythons rep teams
We’re looking for coaches who want an opportunity to grow with the organization.
Athlete Safety
Successful candidates must meet Prime Potential Volleyball Academy’s athlete-safety requirements and be willing to complete required screening, including a Vulnerable Sector Check where applicable.
