Position Overview
As a leader of the sales team, the Sales Manager is the driving force behind the dealership's sales experiences. The Sales Manager is dedicated to motivating their team in order to achieve monthly sales targets and ensuring that all members of the team have the training and resources necessary to be successful in their jobs. As a team player the Sales Manager strives to develop collaborative relationships throughout the dealership. The Sales Manager is focused on upholding our dealership's brand values and brand standards to create an unparalleled customer experience in the sales department.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Supervise the salespeople to ensure that they follow up their owners on a planned contact basis through the company CRM system.
- Perform daily one on ones with salespeople to monitor activities and assist with customers.
- Ensure that salespeople plan a day’s work each day through phone calls, emails and appointments using the company CRM system.
- Work with the salespeople on programs that will increase the new/used car gross.
- Ensure that your sales consultants are following the appropriate process and that they are using the tools in place in order to be successful.
- Maintain an enthusiastic attitude to build positive Employee attitudes and morale
- Work collaboratively with your sales team to drive sales with new and existing customers.
- Review the monthly goals and target with General Managers and discuss areas for improvement.
- Ensure that your sales consultants are following the appropriate process and that they are using the tools in place in order to be successful.
- Perform daily one on ones with salespeople to monitor activities and assist with customers.
- Hire, motivate, counsel, and monitor the performance of all new/ used vehicle sales employees.
- Review salespeople’s performance as shown on the Sales Consultants Review and develop specific training plans to reach their objectives.
- Conduct daily and weekly sales training meetings as directed by the General Sales Manager to include completion of all Manufacturer training.
- Hold the salespeople accountable in following the dealership’s prospecting program to obtain maximum results through the company CRM system.
- Evaluate the performance of salespeople monthly including quarterly reviews.
- Coordinate the function of salespeople with the Service Department, Parts Department, and Business Office.
Qualifications Required
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a sales manager.
- Experience managing teams of at least 5-10 people.
- Ability to work in a team and possesses strong interpersonal skills with an upbeat and engaging attitude.
- Experience with AutoAlert, VAuto, 180, and CDK are an asset preferred but not required.
- Ability to problem solve and high attention to detail.
- Busy work environment and so the Sales Manager must have exceptional organizational and stress management skills to complete daily tasks.
- The Sales Manager must be process oriented and able to hold their sales team to process standards.
- Excellent listening skills.
- Self-motivating with excellent work ethic.
- Possess a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
- Professional demeanor and appearance.
- The Sales Manager must be adaptable to work evening and weekend shifts as needed.
