Bytown Catering is currently looking to add an additional Pastry Chef to our growing team.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and bake pastries, cakes, cookies, tarts, pies, breads, and other desserts.
- Develop and execute dessert menus in accordance with company standards and seasonal offerings.
- Decorate cakes, pastries, and specialty desserts for events and daily service.
- Ensure all baked goods are produced consistently and meet quality standards.
- Follow recipes, production sheets, and portion control guidelines accurately.
- Monitor product freshness and rotate stock using FIFO (First In, First Out) procedures.
- Maintain proper storage, handling, and labeling of ingredients and finished products.
- Operate and maintain bakery equipment, including mixers, ovens, proofers, and decorating tools.
- Assist in creating new recipes and menu items.
- Prepare specialty desserts for catered events, weddings, banquets, and corporate functions.
- Adhere to food safety, sanitation, and health regulations at all times.
- Maintain a clean and organized pastry kitchen and work area.
- Ensure proper temperature control and storage of all food products.
- Comply with workplace health and safety policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of four to six years pastry experience in a similar high volume environment is required
- A minimum of one year previous experience as a Pastry Chef or Assistant Pastry Chef is required
- Experience working in catering or a HACCP certified environment an asset
- Experience organizing off-site catering events is an asset
- Previous experience teaching or doing demonstrations is an asset
- Ontario Food Safe Certification is an asset
