Scotia Garden Seafood is a harvester, producer and distributor of high-quality fish and seafood products. Our growing company is Yarmouth-based, with operations across Southwest Nova Scotia. This position supports maintenance and repair across our processing and operational facilities.
Position Summary
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing a variety of equipment used in seafood processing and facility operations.
Position Information:
- Full-time, permanent position with competitive hourly rate, from $25 per hour depending on qualifications/experience
- Overtime may be required

- Based at our production facility at 112 Water Street, Yarmouth
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Perform maintenance and repair on a wide range of production equipment
- Diagnose mechanical issues and troubleshoot equipment failures.
- Rebuild mechanical components such as gearboxes, pumps, and motors.
- Replace bearings, seals, belts, chains, and other mechanical parts as needed.
- Assist with installation and assembly of machinery and equipment according to specifications.
- Perform preventative maintenance to minimize equipment downtime.
- Maintain maintenance logs, reports, and work records.
- Assist in identifying improvements to equipment reliability and efficiency.
- Ensure tools, parts, and supplies are properly organized and available.
- Maintain clean and safe work areas.
- Other duties as required
Work Environment
This position is performed within the manufacturing facility. When in the facility, the individual may be subject to loud noise and variable temperatures. They will be required to wear the appropriate CSA approved personal protective equipment and other garments as set out in the company policies and procedures.
Position Requirements:
Education and Training
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Formal trade certification is not required, but relevant training or mechanical education is considered an asset.
- Millwright/Industrial Mechanic certification/experience considered an asset.
Experience
- Previous experience performing maintenance or equipment repair (required).
- Experience working with industrial equipment, mobile equipment, or processing machinery is an asset.
- Experience rebuilding mechanical components such as gearboxes, pumps, or bearings is preferred.

- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability.
- Self-motivated with a willingness to learn.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Physically capable of lifting up to 25 kg and performing hands-on mechanical work.
- Ability to maintain a safe and productive work environment.
