Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Sous Chef to oversee our culinary operations, at the Marshview Patio & Restaurant at Long Point Eco-Adventures. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills and a passion for the food industry, ensuring that our kitchen runs smoothly while maintaining the highest standards of food safety and quality. This role requires a hands-on approach, with responsibilities that include managing kitchen staff, managing food preparation, and ensuring exceptional service in a fast-paced environment.
Duties
- Manage and lead kitchen staff to ensure efficient operation and high-quality food preparation.
- Oversee daily kitchen activities, including cooking, food handling, and quality.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen in compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Manage inventory levels, order supplies, and ensure proper storage of food items.
- Oversee hiring and training of new staff with onboarding, food preparation techniques, safety protocols, and restaurant policies.
- Responsible for maintaining set cost targets including labour and food cost.
- Collaborate with Executive Chef and management to develop menus that align with customer preferences and seasonal availability.
- Manage on-site catering for weddings and corporate groups.
- Monitor food quality during preparation and presentation to ensure consistency and excellence.
- Effectively communicate with the front of house team about any features, or changes to menu items on a daily basis.
- Address any issues or concerns that arise within the kitchen team promptly.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in a supervisory role within a restaurant or kitchen environment.
- Strong background in food preparation, cooking techniques, and food service operations.
- Knowledge of food safety standards and best practices in the hospitality industry.
- Excellent team management skills with the ability to motivate and lead a diverse group of individuals.
- Previous experience in restaurant management is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with inventory management and ordering processes in a kitchen setting.
- Exceptional communication skills to effectively interact with staff and customers alike.
- A passion for culinary arts and commitment to delivering outstanding dining experiences.
- Valid food handlers certificate.

Pay: $45,000.00-$60,000.00 per year
