The Material Handler is responsible for the movement, storage, and tracking of materials within the warehouse or production facility. This role ensures that materials and products are received, handled, and delivered accurately and efficiently to support smooth operations.
Role Responsibilities:
- Load, unload, and move materials within the facility using forklifts, pallet jacks, or other equipment.
- Receive, inspect, and verify incoming shipments against purchase orders or delivery documents.
- Accurately label, store, and organize materials in designated locations.
- Pick and prepare materials for production or shipment according to schedules and instructions.
- Maintain accurate records of inventory transactions in warehouse management or ERP systems.
- Conduct regular inventory counts and assist with cycle counting.
- Ensure safe handling of materials, following all health and safety policies.
- Identify and report damaged or defective materials to supervisors.
- Assist in maintaining a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
- Support cross-functional teams by delivering materials where and when needed.
Requirements:
- Previous experience in material handling, warehousing, or logistics preferred.
- Ability to operate forklifts, pallet jacks, or other warehouse equipment (licensing/certification may be required).
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in handling and recording materials.
- Good organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Basic computer skills and familiarity with inventory systems are an asset.
- Physical requirements:
- Good physical health with the ability to climb, walk, squat, kneel, and perform overhead tasks.
- Capable of lifting 40 lbs and working in all weather conditions.
- Comfortable working with or around chemicals.
Academic and Trades Qualifications
- One year of experience preferred.
Starting wage determined based on qualifications and experience.
