Job Overview:
The QC Inspector is responsible for inspecting raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods to ensure they meet company quality standards, food safety requirements, and regulatory compliance. The QC Inspector works closely with the Production and Quality Assurance teams to identify quality issues, document findings, and support corrective actions to maintain product integrity and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform inspections of incoming raw materials, work-in-process, and finished products according to established specifications.
- Conduct routine quality checks throughout production to verify compliance with food safety and quality standards.
- Monitor production processes and identify deviations from quality requirements.
- Report food safety, quality, and regulatory issues promptly.
- Record inspection results accurately and maintain quality documentation.
- Place non-conforming products on hold and notify supervisors of quality concerns.
- Collect product samples for testing and retain samples as required.
- Verify product labels, packaging, coding, and weights for accuracy.
- Conduct pre-operational and operational inspections of equipment and production areas.
- Ensure compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), HACCP, sanitation, and company policies.
- Support internal and external audits by maintaining accurate records.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality and operational efficiency.
Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in Food Science or a related field is an asset.
- Previous experience in quality control or food manufacturing is preferred.
- Knowledge of GMP, HACCP, and food safety regulations.
- Strong attention to detail and observational skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office and data entry.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
