Experienced Landscape Construction Crew Lead
About The Role:
Landscapes By Genuine is looking for a driven and experienced Landscape Design/Build Crew Lead to work full-time hours during the spring/summer/fall season. This role has the opportunity to continue into the winter months and transition into a snow removal position as well.
Reporting to Management, the Crew Lead is responsible for overseeing landscape jobs, monitoring and training new and existing workers on your crew, supervising the use of equipment and ensuring staff are following proper safety guidelines and protocols. The Lead is responsible for coordinating and controlling project progress to ensure timely completion as per pre-determined schedules. Though s/he has project authority, s/he shall report to and seek direction from the Management on a daily basis.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- View job with Designers, Project Manager and, Client
- Create a project plan for the installation of the job
- Ability to step in and take over a job at any stage
- Operate all equipment required for the job
- Accountability for the quality of the job
- Troubleshoot issues that arise on the job and modify job in collaboration with Designer and Client
- Conduct daily morning toolbox meeting on site with crew
- Monitor and track progress of jobs and communicate status with Design Build Manager, Designer, and Client
- Mentor and coach new employees on installations tactics
- Responsibility to report and record safety incidents and near misses
- Ability to provide and receive constructive feedback
- Ensure self and staff properly use of required personal protective equipment
- Ensuring proper use, care and inventory of company vehicles, equipment and tools
- Participate in the pre-construction conference when possible to familiarize him/herself with the job peculiarities and offer practical advice pertaining to the various project schedules and budgets
- Organize, direct, and request the proper equipment needed for timely project completion
- Organize, direct, and request needed personnel and communicate with design build manager the need for subcontractors for timely project completion
- Continually review project progress, schedules, and demands to complete
- Determine and recommend changes in methods, schedules, and procedures and improve where necessary
- Ensure proper paper flow to and from the office
- Communicate with management the need to suspend or dismiss any personnel on the project site not performing according to predetermined procedures or schedule
- Update the job diary on a daily basis
- Continuously train and evaluate the personnel under his/her direction
- Ensure proper, quality supervision on his/her job site
What We Need From You:
The Landscape Construction Crew Lead will read and familiarize with all plans and specifications of each job, before starting the job, as well as performing the following:
- Minimum 10 years experience in building custom residential landscaping
- Minimum 5 years of leading a crew of 2-3 people
- Valid Class 5 Driver's License with recent 3 years Clean Drivers Abstract, and continuous insurance for 3 years as a named driver (or can provide an letter of experience from previous employer to fill in any gaps in personal coverage)
- Knowledge and skillset to install hardscapes such as patios, walkways, retaining walls, fences etc.
- Knowledge and skillset to install softscapes such as basework, planting, sodding, etc
- Advanced Bobcat experience in a commercial landscaping setting is a must
- Be capable of working independently with little supervision

- Flexible schedule with availability to work some evenings and weekends
- Enjoy working outdoors and with your hands
- Physically fit - this is a very physically demanding position, lifting, bending etc
- Be capable of working independently with little supervision

Salary: $26.00 -$30.00 per hour
