We are currently seeking to fill one Part-Time Transportation Support Worker position. Transportation Support Workers play an essential role within our organization by supporting individuals with their transportation needs and helping them remain active and engaged members of their community. The successful candidate will be regularly scheduled for 18-22 hours per week, based on the needs of the individuals we support. The regular schedule for this position will primarily be Monday to Friday; however, candidates must be available to work evenings and weekends as required. Schedules may be adjusted based on operational requirements and the evolving needs of the people we support.

· Postsecondary education in developmental services, human services, social services, community support, health care, behavioural sciences, personal support work, or a related field is considered an asset.
· Equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience will be considered.
· Experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities, behavioural support needs, mental health concerns, mobility needs, medical needs, or vulnerable populations preferred.
· Experience operating accessible vehicles and securing mobility devices considered an asset.
· Valid Ontario Driver’s License for 6 or more years, with a clean driving abstract and ability to operate organizational vehicles safely.
· Ability to obtain and maintain any organizationally required vehicle operation certifications or training.
· Strong understanding of safe transportation practices, defensive driving, and passenger safety procedures.
· Ability to work independently and make sound decisions while transporting individuals without direct onsite supervision.
· Strong crisis management, de-escalation, and problem-solving skills.
· Ability to remain calm and respond effectively during emergencies or challenging situations.
· Strong verbal and written communication skills and excellent interpersonal skills.
· Ability to demonstrate competency in the DS Core Competencies, including advocacy, building relationships, problem solving and decision making, resilience, resource management, and valuing equity, diversity, and inclusion.
· Comfortable with technology and able to use web-based and mobile-based applications.
· Valid First Aid and CPR certificates and Clear Vulnerable Sector Police Check.
· Ability to support individuals with varying physical, mobility, behavioural, communication, and personal care needs during transportation.
· Ability to safely lift, push, pull, and secure mobility equipment and assist passengers as required.
You will:
· Safely operates accessible and non-accessible organizational vehicles in accordance with all legislation, organizational policies, and safe driving practices.
· Transports individuals to and from programs, appointments, employment, recreational activities, community events, and other required destinations.
· Assists individuals with safe boarding and exiting of vehicles, including use of lifts, ramps, mobility devices, seatbelt systems, and securement equipment as required.
· Provides direct support to individuals during transportation, including assistance with communication, emotional regulation, mobility, and personal safety needs.
· Maintains awareness of individual support needs, medical concerns, behavioural support plans, communication methods, and emergency procedures relevant to passengers being transported.
· Responds appropriately and safely to behavioural, medical, environmental, or transportation-related emergencies that may arise during transport.
· Uses de-escalation, problem-solving, and crisis intervention techniques as required to support passenger safety and well-being.
· Maintains accurate transportation records, vehicle inspection logs, incident reports, mileage records, and required documentation within established timelines.
· Conducts routine vehicle inspections and reports maintenance concerns, safety hazards, accidents, or damage promptly.
· Ensures vehicles remain clean, safe, fueled, and appropriately equipped for daily transportation needs.
· Maintains ongoing communication with supervisors, scheduling staff, program staff, families, and other stakeholders regarding transportation updates, delays, concerns, or incidents.
· Promotes respectful interactions, inclusion, self-determination, and positive community experiences for individuals supported.
· Maintains privacy and confidentiality in accordance with organizational policies, procedures, and applicable legislation.
· Complies with organizational policies and procedures, Ministry requirements, transportation regulations, and applicable legislation.
· Participates in organizational meetings, training, and ongoing professional development.
· Performs other duties and responsibilities as required.

Compensation Details
· Pay range is $28.50-29.36/hour
· Overtime at 1.5 times hourly over 44 hours worked in a week or over 80 in a pay period
· Eligible for benefits and RRSP
