Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Equipment Operator to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience operating heavy machinery and a strong understanding of mechanical systems. This role is essential for ensuring the efficient operation of equipment on job sites, contributing to the successful completion of projects.
Duties
- Operate various types of heavy equipment including loaders, excavators, skid-steers, and bulldozers to perform tasks such as excavation work, rock breaking, grading, and aggregate placement.
- Conduct routine inspections and maintenance on equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety.
- Report any mechanical issues or concerns to supervisors promptly for timely resolution.
- Follow project plans and specifications to complete tasks.
- Collaborate with team members to plan and execute projects efficiently while adhering to safety regulations.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, ensuring that all tools and equipment are stored properly after use.
- Willing and able to assist ground crew when equipment/machine are not in use.
Requirements
- Proven experience in heavy equipment operation, specifically with excavators, and bulldozers.
- Strong ability to cut to finish grade on excavations, ditches, berms, and slopes; all with a high level of precision.
- Experience with GPS is an asset, but training can be provided by Nexco supervisors.
- Experience working around multiple utilities.
- Knowledge of and adherence of ground disturbance standards and regulations.
- Experience in performing daily maintenance and checks on heavy machines.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Possess a strong work ethic, positive attitude, and proven ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to troubleshoot and perform basic maintenance on equipment.
- Ability to work in various weather conditions and perform physically demanding tasks.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
- A commitment to safety practices and protocols on job sites.
- Willingness to travel for projects across Nova Scotia and New Brunswick
