Camp Counselor – Camp Tidnish Start Date: Immediately (ASAP) – Runs until August 24, 2026 Compensation: $130/day + 4% vacation pay (On-site room and board provided during sessions)
Overview Join our vibrant team at Camp Tidnish, a fully inclusive residential summer camp operated by Easter Seals Nova Scotia! We are actively seeking passionate, energetic, and empathetic individuals to serve as Camp Counselors. In this sleep-in role, you will help create a safe, fun, and profoundly accessible environment for children, youth, and adults with physical and intellectual disabilities. Responsibilities
- Supervise and engage campers in a variety of fully accessible camp activities, including swimming, games, arts and crafts, and campfires.
- Ensure the absolute safety, dignity, and well-being of all campers at all times.
- Provide direct personal care and essential daily living support for campers, ensuring they are comfortable and empowered.
- Facilitate group activities that promote inclusion, community building, and confidence.
- Collaborate closely with your co-counselors, the leadership team, and on-site nursing staff to execute daily schedules.
- Live on-site during camp sessions and model positive, high-energy behavior for both campers and peers.
- Communicate effectively and compassionately to foster a supportive and heavily adapted camp environment.
Requirements
- A genuine passion for working with individuals with physical and intellectual disabilities.
- High energy, deep patience, and the ability to balance enthusiasm with quiet care.
- Ability and willingness to live on-site at our facility in Baie Verte, NB, for the duration of the summer contract.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively within a close-knit team environment.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Employment is strictly conditional upon the successful completion of a Criminal Record Check and a Vulnerable Sector Check.
