About Fern Kids
Fern Kids is a Canadian manufacturer of children's furniture built for the places kids learn and grow — daycares, Montessori schools, and thoughtfully designed family spaces. We design and build everything in-house at our workshop in Moorefield, Ontario, and ship coast to coast. We're a small, fast-moving team with a big creative vision, and we're looking for a co-op student to help us tell that story.
The role
You'll work directly with our founder and product team to create the content that brings Fern Kids to life online. From photographing finished pieces in our shop to producing social media content and writing blog posts for our resources hub — this role spans the full creative-to-publish pipeline. If you love making things look good and have an eye for detail, this is the summer for you.
What you'll work on
- Product and lifestyle photography — capturing furniture in our shop, in schools, and in real spaces
- Short-form video and reels for Instagram and TikTok — behind-the-scenes, process videos, product showcases
- Social media content planning, scheduling, and community management across Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn
- Blog posts and articles for our growing Resources hub — classroom guides, buying advice, education content
- Assistance with email marketing campaigns and newsletter content
- Light Shopify updates — product copy, image uploads, and page maintenance
- Tracking performance metrics and reporting on what's working
You bring
- Enrollment in a post-secondary program in marketing, communications, design, or a related field
- A strong visual eye — whether you've built a portfolio, a personal Instagram, or just have taste
- Comfort behind a camera (DSLR, mirrorless, or even a phone — results matter more than gear)
- Familiarity with editing tools: Adobe Lightroom, Premiere, CapCut, Canva, or similar
- Good writing skills — clear, friendly, and on-brand
- Self-direction and genuine curiosity; we're a small team and you'll have real ownership here
