Job Description:
Reporting to the Production Supervisor, the Roaster is responsible for, but not limited to, operating the forklift, and acquiring materials to load the roaster, unloading trucks, operating and maintaining the roasting equipment and meeting all established standards of safety, quality, productivity and good housekeeping within Heritage Coffee Co. Ltd.
Job Responsibilities and Duties
- Responsible for maintaining safe working conditions and following all Safety Rules at Heritage Coffee Co. Ltd.
- Responsible for following all work instructions and complying with Company standards on the use of personal protective equipment.
- Responsible for following all Safe Quality Food (SQF) guidelines and policies in letter and in spirit. Report all major or minor food safety problems to personnel with authority to initiate action.
- Pre-use inspection of assigned forklift at the start of each shift
- Driving the forklift in a safe manner strictly observing forklift driving codes of conduct. Adhering to fall arrest requirements.
- Blends, roasts, and grinds all coffee according to specifications and transfers to designated holding bins and production lines.
- Provides input for process improvements.
- Unloads green bean trucks and moves product to Work in Progress areas.
- Performs weekly Clean Outs to maintain safe and quality roaster operation
- Inspects and maintain CCP’s (critical control points)
- Actively communicates with all players (Production Manager/Supervisor, Material Handlers, and Maintenance Staff etc.) to avoid any possible line downtime.
- Troubleshoots/Maintain machine and acts upon a solution to resolve the situation.
- Stops the line if they believe there is a problem with either the product or the machinery.
- Assist with other duties and responsibilities as requested by the Production Supervisor
Qualifications:
- Minimum grade 12 or equivalent and previous experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred
- 1-3 years’ prior experience in a manufacturing environment
- Competent Forklift driver with appropriate certificate
- Proficient in the operation of computers and computer software
- Great observation and multi-tasking skills and the ability to react to changing conditions and emergency situations
- Ability to troubleshoot and communicate problems to Supervisor/Team Leads, maintenance mechanics and QA Technicians as required
- Accuracy and attention to detail with strong work ethic

Pay: $21.00-$22.00 per hour
