About the Role
Vitalité Health Network is seeking dedicated Registered Nurses Class A (RNCA) to join the Forensic Psychiatry – Community Reintegration Unit in Campbellton, New Brunswick.
In this role, you will provide comprehensive, patient-centered nursing care tailored to individual patient needs in a specialized psychiatric setting. You will work closely with an interdisciplinary team while actively contributing to patient safety, quality improvement, recovery, and successful community reintegration.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide holistic nursing assessments, interventions, and care to patients within the Forensic Psychiatry unit.
- Develop and implement individualized nursing care plans based on patient needs.
- Collaborate with an interdisciplinary healthcare team to support patient recovery, safety, and community reintegration.
- Monitor patients and respond appropriately to changes in their physical and mental health status.
- Maintain professional standards, ethical practices, and strict patient confidentiality.
- Participate in unit-level quality improvement and patient safety initiatives.
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation.
- Promote a safe, respectful, and therapeutic environment for patients, families, and colleagues.
Key Qualifications
- Education & Registration: Active registration, or eligibility for registration, with the College of Nursing of New Brunswick (NANB/OPINB).
- Basic Life Support: Current BLS/SIR certification.
- Specialized Training: Candidates must have, or be willing to complete upon hire:
- Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (CPI) – Advanced Physical Skills.Prevention and Management of Suicidal Behaviour in a Psychiatric Hospital Setting course.
- Legal Authorization: Must be legally entitled to work in Canada/New Brunswick.
- Background Check: Must successfully complete a Criminal Record Check, including the Vulnerable Sector Check.
- Strong clinical judgment and decision-making skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team.
- Adaptability and the ability to work in a specialized, fast-paced psychiatric environment.
- Physical ability to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position.
- Strong commitment to patient safety, confidentiality, and professional ethics.
Preferred QualificationsCandidates with the following experience or qualifications will be considered an asset:
- Previous experience in forensic psychiatry, mental health, or psychiatric nursing.
- Experience working with patients requiring complex mental health care.
- Experience in crisis intervention, suicide prevention, or behavioral health.
- Knowledge of community reintegration and recovery-oriented care.
- English and French bilingual communication skills.
- Strong leadership and conflict-resolution skills.
