The Opportunity
NuVista Mental Health is seeking Volunteers to support initiatives within our Growth Team.
This opportunity is ideal for students pursuing education or careers in counselling, psychotherapy, psychology, mental health, healthcare administration, communications, or related fields who are seeking practical experience in an organizational setting related to mental health services.
Volunteers will contribute to a variety of administrative, operational, and project-based initiatives while gaining virtual exposure to the day-to-day operations of a growing national mental health organization through a remote placement experience.
This remote placement is intended to provide meaningful experiential learning in a professional virtual environment and may support students seeking volunteer or organizational experience hours for graduate or professional program applications.
This Role May Include
Administrative and Organizational Support

Assisting with internal Growth Team projects and initiatives
-
Supporting workflow organization and administrative coordination through virtual collaboration tools
-
Participating in virtual meetings and project discussions with team members
-
Preparing and organizing materials, resources, and documentation
-
Assisting with research, communications, and project implementation activities in a remote work environment
-
Supporting operational and process improvement initiatives
-
Undertaking additional non-clinical support duties as needed
Learning and Professional Exposure
-
Gaining insight into the operations of a professional mental health organization
-
Developing organizational, communication, and administrative skills
-
Learning about professional standards, confidentiality, and ethical conduct in healthcare environments

Working collaboratively with clinical and operational team members through virtual meetings, projects, and organizational initiatives
Important Notes
To maintain professional and ethical boundaries:

This is a non-clinical volunteer position
-
Volunteers will not provide counselling, psychotherapy, assessment, or therapeutic services
-
Volunteers will not provide professional advice or opinions to clients
-
Volunteers will not independently access or handle sensitive client information without authorization and supervision
-
This role does not involve activities requiring professional licensure or certification
Qualifications
We welcome applications from students or emerging professionals with an interest in mental health, counselling, healthcare, or organizational operations.
Preference may be given to candidates who demonstrate:

Strong communication and organizational skills

Professionalism, maturity, and attention to detail

Interest in counselling, psychotherapy, psychology, or mental health services

Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism

Comfort working independently and collaboratively

Proficiency with Microsoft Office and virtual communication platforms

Previous administrative, volunteer, or project experience considered an asset
Position Structure

This is a fully remote volunteer placement

Orientation, supervision, mentorship, and training will be provided virtually

Approximately 8 hours per week

Flexible scheduling based on organizational needs and volunteer availability
