Aurora Underwriting Solutions is a Canadian commercial insurance MGA partnering with licensed retail brokers nationwide to deliver specialized underwriting and risk services. We're growing our Hamilton team and seeking a skilled Property & Casualty Underwriter – Farm & Commercial to expand with us.
About the Role You'll be responsible for evaluating and underwriting farm, commercial property, and liability submissions, contributing to a profitable and well-managed book of business. Working within Lloyd's contract frameworks, you'll manage moderate to complex accounts while serving as a trusted resource for broker partners across the country.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate and underwrite farm and commercial property/liability risks with a focus on quality and profitability
- Accurately price, authorize, and document accounts within established underwriting authority
- Apply defined rating matrices, structured parameters, and Lloyd's contract guidelines with consistency
- Cultivate and maintain strong broker relationships to support their front-line sales and client needs
- Bring forward ideas to enhance team processes and overall departmental performance
- Work collaboratively as part of a national underwriting team
What You Bring
- 2–4 years of commercial P&C underwriting experience
- CIP or Risk Management designation (completed or in progress) is an asset
- Proficiency in Excel, MS Office, Outlook, Applied EPIC, and/or Policyworks
- Strong negotiation skills and commercial business acumen
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize independently and take initiative
- A solutions-focused mindset with sound judgment and decision-making skills
- Ability to adapt in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
