We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced End-to-End (E2E) QA Lead to join the RBC Client Cards Technology team. This role is responsible for leading end-to-end testing initiatives across multiple projects within a complex, mainframe-based environment that supports critical client banking services. The successful candidate will provide testing leadership, develop comprehensive testing strategies, coordinate cross-functional stakeholders, and ensure the delivery of high-quality solutions across integrated systems.
This position requires strong expertise in mainframe testing, test strategy development, stakeholder management, and collaboration with both internal business teams and external partners. The role offers the opportunity to work on large-scale enterprise initiatives supporting key banking channels, including Online Banking, Mobile Banking, Point-of-Sale (POS), and ATM platforms.
This is a hybrid position requiring attendance at the downtown Toronto office and/or the client office located at 155 Wellington Street West, a minimum of four days per week, subject to business and client requirements.
Your future duties and responsibilities
End-to-End Testing Leadership
Lead and manage end-to-end QA activities across multiple concurrent projects within a complex mainframe-based ecosystem.
Develop and execute comprehensive E2E testing strategies, approaches, test flows, and test scenarios aligned with project objectives.
Ensure quality standards and testing best practices are consistently applied across participating teams and systems.
Coordinate testing activities across multiple applications, teams, and external partners to support successful project delivery.
Own the design, implementation, maintenance, and governance of testing artifacts throughout the project lifecycle.
Test Planning and Execution
Create and manage detailed test plans, schedules, resource allocation plans, and testing timelines.
Coordinate test data requirements and support the creation and maintenance of testing environments.
Execute application-specific test cases where required and support defect triage and resolution activities.
Leverage automation tools, service virtualization solutions, and testing frameworks to improve efficiency and quality outcomes.
Validate complex integrations, APIs, databases, and system interactions within end-to-end testing scenarios.
Risk, Change, and Quality Management
Identify, assess, track, and mitigate testing risks throughout the software delivery lifecycle.
Manage testing impacts resulting from scope changes, timeline adjustments, and evolving business requirements.
Develop and implement risk mitigation, contingency, and quality assurance plans.
Support release readiness assessments, sign-off processes, and implementation planning activities.
Ensure appropriate test coverage for business-critical functionality and regulatory requirements.
Stakeholder Management and Cross-Functional Collaboration
Collaborate with internal stakeholders including Business, Operations, Finance, Technology, and Delivery teams.
Coordinate and manage relationships with external partners such as Visa, TSYS, Thales, and other third-party vendors.
Facilitate cross-functional meetings, workshops, testing forums, and issue-resolution sessions.
Build strong relationships with project teams and stakeholders to ensure alignment on testing objectives, timelines, and deliverables.
Resolve conflicts, negotiate priorities, and maintain momentum across multiple workstreams.
Communication and Reporting
Provide consolidated testing status reports, executive updates, and presentations to senior leadership.
Communicate testing progress, risks, issues, dependencies, and recommendations in a clear and timely manner.
Translate technical testing challenges and defects into business impact statements for non-technical audiences.
Present testing outcomes, quality metrics, and release readiness recommendations to project and executive stakeholders.
Required qualifications to be successful in this role
Experience
Minimum 5 years of QA testing experience within mainframe environments.
Minimum 3 years of experience developing test strategies and testing approaches at both project and enterprise end-to-end levels.
Experience leading testing efforts across large-scale, multi-team, and complex technology implementations.
Experience working within both Agile and Waterfall delivery methodologies, including hybrid delivery models.
Experience developing test plans, schedules, resource allocation plans, and risk mitigation strategies.
Demonstrated experience managing testing impacts related to scope changes, timeline adjustments, and evolving project priorities.
Technical Knowledge
Strong understanding of end-to-end testing methodologies, test management practices, and quality assurance principles.
Experience with mainframe systems and enterprise application integrations.
Solid understanding of APIs, automation frameworks, service virtualization, and database validation techniques.
Knowledge of software development lifecycle (SDLC), testing lifecycle, release management, and quality governance processes.
Ability to evaluate testing coverage across complex integrated systems and environments.
Stakeholder and Leadership Skills
Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building capabilities.
Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and executive communication skills.
Proven ability to provide reporting and updates to senior leadership audiences.
Demonstrated success negotiating timelines, resolving conflicts, and managing competing priorities.
Ability to facilitate cross-functional workshops and drive collaborative decision-making.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
CGI is providing a reasonable estimate of the pay range for this role. The determination of this range includes factors such as skill set level, geographic market, experience and training, and licenses and certifications. Compensation decisions depend on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $65,000–$115,000. This role is an existing vacancy.
