Craig Street Creamery is looking for a friendly, dependable, and energetic Manager to lead our team in downtown Parksville.
Our shop serves premium ice cream, gelato, dairy-free options, Jones Soda slurpees, coffee, affogatos, and frozen treats. The Creamery Manager will oversee daily operations, support and supervise staff, maintain excellent food-safety and cleanliness standards, and help create a welcoming experience for every customer.
The ideal candidate is an organized and confident leader who enjoys working with people, stays calm in a fast-paced environment, and is comfortable taking responsibility for the shop’s daily success.
Responsibilities
- Lead, supervise, train, and support creamery employees.
- Prepare staff schedules and ensure shifts are properly covered.
- Complete opening and closing procedures.
- Count and balance cash tills and maintain accurate daily sales records.
- Operate and oversee the Clover point-of-sale system.
- Provide friendly, efficient customer service and resolve customer concerns professionally.
- Ensure ice cream, gelato, cones, cups, toppings, and other products are properly stocked and presented.
- Monitor inventory levels and place or prepare supplier orders as required.
- Receive deliveries and verify products, quantities, and invoices.
- Maintain proper product rotation and reduce unnecessary waste.
- Ensure all food products are stored, handled, and served safely.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness throughout the shop, including service areas, dipping wells, equipment, counters, floors, and storage areas.
- Ensure staff follow all company policies, food-safety requirements, and workplace procedures.
- Monitor employee performance and provide coaching, feedback, and additional training when needed.
- Help promote the creamery through local marketing, special offers, events, and community involvement.
- Communicate regularly with ownership regarding staffing, inventory, sales, maintenance, and operational concerns.
- Step in wherever needed during busy periods, including serving customers, scooping ice cream and gelato, operating the till, cleaning, and restocking.
Qualifications
- Previous management or supervisory experience in food service, hospitality, retail, or a similar customer-focused environment.
- FOODSAFE certification is required.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience training and supervising employees.
- Comfortable handling cash, balancing tills, and using point-of-sale systems.
- Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
- Able to work independently and make responsible decisions.
- Dependable, punctual, and available to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Able to remain on your feet for extended periods and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Able to lift and move products, supplies, and boxes as required.
- A positive attitude and genuine commitment to excellent customer service.
