Position Overview
Scuka Construction is seeking a motivated and dependable Site Safety Coordinator to join our team on a long-term project in Kelowna, BC.
This role is ideal for an individual who is passionate about workplace safety, enjoys working in a dynamic construction environment, and wants to play an important role in fostering a strong safety culture on site.
This is a working position, combining site safety coordination, first aid responsibilities, and hands-on participation in site operations. The successful candidate will work closely with the Site Superintendent, project team, workers, and trade partners to promote a safe and productive workplace.
Approximately 40% to 60% of the workday will be spent assisting with general site operations, cleanup, and light construction duties when safety responsibilities permit.

What You'll Be Doing
Safety & First Aid Responsibilities
- Provide and document Occupational First Aid services and coordinate additional medical assistance when required.
- Conduct and document new worker site orientations.
- Perform and document daily site safety inspections.
- Assist the Site Superintendent in preparing and reviewing daily Field Level Hazard Assessments (FLHAs).
- Review and monitor subcontractor FLHAs and safety compliance.
- Maintain first aid equipment, supplies, and inventory.
- Lead and document weekly toolbox and tailgate safety meetings.
- Participate in weekly foreperson meetings and maintain accurate records.
- Promote compliance with WorkSafeBC Occupational Health and Safety Regulations and company safety policies.
- Help foster a proactive, positive, and engaging safety culture across the project team.
- Maintain organized and accurate safety documentation and reports.
Site Operations Responsibilities
- Assist with site housekeeping and maintaining a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
- Perform light carpentry and general construction support duties as directed.
- Assist the Superintendent and site team with day-to-day site operations.
- Support project productivity while maintaining safe work practices.
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications
- Occupational First Aid Level 3 certification (OFA 3 preferred). Strong OFA 2/Intermediate First Aid candidates may also be considered.
- Familiarity with WorkSafeBC Occupational Health and Safety Regulations applicable to construction.
- Valid Class 5 Driver's Licence and reliable transportation.
- Ability to provide personal basic PPE, including CSA-approved steel-toed boots.
- Physically capable of lifting up to 50 lbs and working in a demanding construction environment involving stairs, ladders, and uneven terrain.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with workers, subcontractors, and site management.
- Self-motivated, organized, and comfortable balancing multiple responsibilities.
Assets
- Construction experience.
- Carpentry or general construction knowledge.
- Experience operating equipment such as skid steers or telehandlers.
- Interest in pursuing an NCSO or other safety designation.

Schedule
This position is based on a long-term project in Kelowna, BC and is expected to work:
Monday to Friday
7:00 AM to 3:30 PM
Occasional overtime may be required based on project needs.
Compensation
$25.00 - $30.00 per hour, based on skills, qualifications, and experience.
