Job Overview
We are seeking a proactive and skilled Property Maintenance Contractor to oversee and execute maintenance activities across our facility. This role is vital in ensuring that all property systems and structures operate smoothly, safely, and efficiently. As a Property Maintenance Contractor, you will be responsible for performing a wide range of repair, troubleshooting, and preventative maintenance tasks. Your expertise will help maintain the integrity of our property, enhance safety standards, and support the overall operations of our facility.
Duties
Weekly Tasks:
- Check the Sump Pump in the basement and fill it as needed
- Ensure the piano is plugged in and that the humidifier water level is set as required.
- Walk through the church and check heat settings, burned-out lights, general plumbing, furnace room and furnace operation, washrooms, loose floor or wall tiles, toilet operation, toilet paper/paper towel/ soap supply (and replace as needed).
- Walk around outside the church, check for and clean up garbage and debris, remove graffiti, and check for broken windows and damaged window screens
- Buying needed supplies for replacement or repair.
- Complete minor repairs as needed, such as changing light bulbs, replacing light switches/electrical plugs, fixing leaky faucets, addressing toilet flushing issues, repairing toilet seats, cleaning the exhaust fan, and repairing minor drywall damage.
- Be in close contact with the Office Assistant, Synod, daycare, and other rental groups regarding required repairs.
- Keep a weekly activity log and leave it in the office, accessible to the Office Assistant, Property, and Personnel Committees. The log should include Time In/Out daily, a brief list of completed or in-process duties, and total time spent per week.
Monthly Tasks:
- Check and test emergency battery lights.
- Check the operation of the fire panel.
- Check and adjust the water level in toilet tanks.
- Check and change furnace filters.
- Visual roof inspection.
- Every six months: check the Bell Tower, Bell, and Mount and conduct maintenance (dust, lubricate bell mount, etc.).
Experience
- Proven experience in facilities or property maintenance roles
- Strong mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience in general building repairs.
- Excellent communication skills in English to effectively collaborate with team members.
- Demonstrated ability to identify issues that may need preventative maintenance.
Pay: Up to $27.00 per hour
