Registered Dental Technologist – Digital Dentistry, 3D Printing & Research and Development
We are looking for a skilled and motivated, licensed Registered Dental Technologist to join our growing dental laboratory team in Ottawa, ON.
This role is ideal for someone with a strong interest in digital dentistry, modern laboratory workflows, 3D printing, and continuous improvement. Experience with digital dentures and 3D-printed dentures is strongly preferred.
The successful candidate will play an important role in expanding our digital production capabilities, improving existing processes, and helping test and develop new materials, technologies, and workflows.
Key responsibilities may include:
- Designing and producing dental prosthetics using digital workflows
- Operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting dental 3D printers
- Preparing digital files for printing and production
- Working with dental CAD software and digital scans
- Producing digital and 3D-printed dentures
- Printing models, try-ins, denture bases, teeth, surgical guides, and other dental appliances
- Completing post-processing, curing, cleaning, finishing, polishing, and quality-control procedures
- Reviewing digital designs for fit, function, accuracy, and aesthetics
- Identifying and correcting printing, design, and production issues
- Maintaining accurate production records and case documentation
- Managing materials, resins, equipment, and laboratory supplies
- Collaborating closely with denturists, dentists, clinicians, and other laboratory team members
- Supporting the development and implementation of new digital laboratory workflows
- Conducting research and development activities related to new materials, equipment, production methods, and digital processes
- Testing and evaluating new denture materials, resins, printers, curing systems, and fabrication techniques
- Documenting test results, comparing outcomes, and recommending process improvements
- Developing and refining internal protocols, quality-control standards, and production procedures
- Participating in pilot projects and validation testing for new digital denture workflows
- Helping improve production efficiency, consistency, turnaround times, fit, strength, and esthetic outcomes
- Ensuring all work meets professional, regulatory, safety, and infection-control standards
The ideal candidate will have:
- Registration as a Dental Technologist in Ontario, or eligibility for registration
- Previous experience working in a dental laboratory
- Hands-on experience with dental 3D printing
- Experience with digital denture design and production
- Familiarity with dental CAD software, scanners, printers, and curing equipment
- A strong understanding of denture fabrication and removable prosthetics
- An interest in research, testing, innovation, and process development
- The ability to accurately document findings and follow structured testing protocols
- Excellent attention to detail and quality control
- Strong technical, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- The ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
- A willingness to learn and evaluate new technologies, materials, and production methods
- Strong communication and time-management skills
Experience with 3Shape, Exocad, Carbon, Asiga, Formlabs, SprintRay, Lucitone Digital Print, or similar dental systems and materials would be considered an asset.
