About the Role
Reporting to the Store Manager, the Deli Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Deli Department, including team leadership, scheduling, food production, inventory management, merchandising, and customer service. This position plays an important role in driving department sales, maintaining food safety standards, and fostering a positive workplace culture.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of Deli employees and supervisors.
- Create staff schedules and manage labour resources effectively.
- Train, mentor, and support new and existing team members.
- Ensure exceptional customer service and product quality.
- Prepare and oversee the preparation of deli products according to company recipes and standards.
- Order, receive, and manage inventory while minimizing waste.
- Maintain department cleanliness, organization, and merchandising standards.
- Ensure compliance with Food Safe, health and safety, and company policies.
- Complete inventory counts and maintain accurate records.
- Act as a keyholder, opening and closing the store as required.
- Collaborate with other departments and store leadership to support overall store success.
Qualifications
We're looking for someone who:
- Has previous leadership experience in a deli, food service, grocery, or retail environment.
- Has experience managing, coaching, and developing employees.
- Holds a valid Food Safe Certificate (or is willing to obtain one).
- Has strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Thrives in a fast-paced environment.
- Is passionate about food, customer service, and team development.
- Demonstrates strong communication and problem-solving abilities.
- Appreciates local food, local businesses, and community involvement.
Availability Requirements
This is a full-time position averaging 40 hours per week. Applicants must be available to:
- Work 40 hours per week.
- Work at least one weekend day each week.
- Work at least one evening shift per week.
- Work a variety of shifts as required by the business, including opening and closing shifts.
