JOB DESCRIPTION
We are a growing truck manufacturing company dedicated to delivering high-quality trucks and transportation solutions to customers across the industry. As we continue to expand, we are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Buyer to join our team.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys problem-solving, building strong relationships with customers and suppliers, and working in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will play a key role in sourcing products, managing procurement activities, and ensuring customer requirements are met efficiently and cost-effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
- Source and procure raw materials, fabricated parts, fasteners, hardware, and services related to truck body manufacturing.
- Analyzes potential suppliers to current suppliers by comparing costs, product, and other variables on MS Excel for continuous process improvements.
- Issue and manage purchase orders, monitor supplier commitments, and ensure deliveries align with production schedules and operational requirements.
- Maintain the Approved Vendor List (AVL) and ensure suppliers meet company quality standards, regulatory requirements, and performance expectations.
- Develop and execute inventory procurement strategies to balance material availability while minimizing excess inventory and carrying costs.
- Collaborate with various departments Sales, Finance, Engineering and Manufacturing teams to ensure purchased items adhere to technical specifications.
- Negotiate terms, pricing, and contracts with suppliers to optimize costs and enhance supplier performance.
- Address supplier-related issues concerning quality, delivery, or pricing promptly and professionally.
- Track key performance metrics, including on-time delivery, cost savings, and supplier quality.
- Stay abreast of market trends, material costs, and supply chain risks pertinent to truck body components.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree, Diploma or Certificate in Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related field is preferred.
- A minimum of 3 years of procurement or purchasing experience, ideally within a manufacturing environment.
- Familiarity with truck body components, metal fabrication, electrical systems, and automotive-grade materials is highly advantageous.
- Strong negotiation, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to interpret and understand technical drawings and specifications.
- Detail-oriented with the capacity to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with lean manufacturing or just-in-time (JIT) purchasing practices.
- Experience in Six Sigma Continuous Improvement; Yellow or Green Belt would be favourable.
- Understanding of welding, painting, and electrical installation processes utilized in truck body manufacturing.
This role is primarily office-based, with regular interactions on the shop floor. Occasional travel to suppliers or trade shows may be required.

Pay: $57,500.00-$75,000.00 per year
