Mission Services of London is a non-profit social service agency dedicated to serving residents of London and Middlesex County with compassion and dignity. Men’s Mission at Mission Services of London has an opening for a Resident Care Worker. This role will facilitate the intake process and provide ongoing care and support to clients within the Men’s Mission. The position will be supervised by the Direct Care Supervisor.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Registration of new and returning clients.
- Orientation of new clients.
- Monitoring (i.e.: conflict intervention and resolution, security, etc.) and support (i.e.: responding to the needs of residents, crisis intervention, listening, etc.).
- Administration of medications.
- Appropriate and accurate record keeping.
- Respond to incoming phone calls and inquiries at the front door by transferring calls/inquiries appropriately or providing direct service.
- Greet all visitors and oversee the sign-in / sign-out process.
Qualifications:
- Graduate of Secondary School (Community College preferred)
- Experience working within a social service agency
- Physically fit, as some lifting may be required (20+ lbs.)
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Good listening skills
- Flexibility and a willingness to respond to the needs of those in the shelter
- Ability to work both independently and as a member of a team
- Current First Aid/CPR and CPI certificates (asset)
- Second language skills (asset)
Position Details:
- Current vacancies available: Casual Relief (Hours scheduled as required; no permanently fixed schedule) and Regular Part-Time (16 hours per week, weekend shifts, morning and afternoon shifts).
- Compensation: $20.89 per hour
