POSITION DETAILS:
TITLE: Facility Maintenance I
OPERATIONS: Community Services Department
CURRENT RATE OF PAY: $30.83 per hour plus 15% in lieu of benefits.
HOURS OF WORK: Up to 40 hours per week – Shift work and weekends when required, pursuant to the Collective Agreement
POSITION: Union Affiliation
GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
The incumbent shall perform custodial and maintenance duties within the Cariboo Memorial Complex as assigned.
SUPERVISION:
The incumbent shall be responsible to the Director of Community Services under the direction of the Community Services Facility Manager.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide a clean and safe facility at all times.
- Complete daily tasks on check list sheet.
- Work in a safe and efficient manner.
- Perform a variety of custodial duties, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, waxing and stripping floors, dusting ledges, ventilating system and lights, cleaning and disinfecting sinks, toilets and urinals, cleaning mirrors, cubicles, windows and metal ducting.
- Complete pool water reads/log book.
- Complete pool mechanical reads/log book.
- Complete compressor room reads/log book.
- Operate and maintain automatic floor cleaners.
- May be required to operate the ice re-surfacer
- Provide assistance or training to new hires.
- Perform minor maintenance duties as required.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum Grade 12 education.
- TSBC Refrigeration Safety Awareness Certificate or ability to obtain.
- RFABC or BCRPA Pool Operators I, or ability to obtain.
- Additional skills required (or complete within six months)
- Scissor lift certificate.
- Confined space certificate
- Fall restraint certificate
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to communicate with patrons and co-workers in a courteous and effective manner.
- Shall be a self-starter.
- Shall have initiative and desire to undertake additional training to upgrade own skills and abilities.
- Shall be a team player.
- Ability to communicate well, both orally and in writing in English.
- Current CPR C
- WHMIS
- Basic ice making/pool maintenance knowledge and experience
