Key duties and Responsibilities
· Verify dimensions of products for accuracy and conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments
· Pre-Grinding of parts in preparation for Chrome Plating
· Finish Grinding parts to finished size after plating per engineering drawings.
· Fully competent using precision measuring tools and holding tolerances of .0002" (.005mm)
· Design, manufacture and validate tooling for a number of production needs
· Operate conventional machining equipment such as lathes, mills, surface grinders, etc.
· Presets tools and addresses tool off-sets prior to finishing cuts.
· Uses measuring instruments to verify conformance to specifications.
· Utilizes knowledge of shop mathematics, charts and tables.
· Uses standard bolts, screws, threads and tapers, etc. to efficiently plan work.
· Maintain, repair and calibrate precision measuring instruments.
· Monitor, provide feedback and maintain equipment to improve machine performance and maintain in good operating condition.
· Establish methods to meet work schedules and co-ordinate work activities
· May train other staff in job duties, safety procedures and company policies
Requirements/Education and other requirements
· Completion of secondary school is usually required.
· Completion of a four-year apprenticeship program or several years of experience as a machinist with grinding experience,
· Must have extensive experience proficiency in the operation and maintenance of Cylindrical, Surface and Internal Grinders, preferably with hard chrome experience.
