Before & After School Care Leader (Contract Position – September to June)

Woodland Childcare Centre is looking for a warm, positive, and energetic Before and After School Care Leader to join our team for the school year (September through June). This is a 10-month contract position, with the opportunity to apply for our summer camp program if desired.
We are an outdoor-based childcare program that values connection to nature, movement, creativity, and a calm, happy environment where children feel safe, supported, and engaged. Our days often include outdoor play, yoga-inspired movement, hands-on activities, and meaningful group experiences.
We are looking for someone who brings a genuine love for working with children, enjoys being active outdoors, and thrives in a supportive, team-focused environment.
Schedule (Required Availability)
This position requires consistent availability Monday to Friday:
- Morning shift: 6:45 AM – 8:45 AM
- Afternoon shift: 2:30 PM – 5:30 PM
- Admin & Prep: 2-3 hrs
Split-shift availability is essential for this role.
What You’ll Be Doing
As a Before and After School Care Site Supervisor, you will play an important role in the daily flow of the program:
- Lead and confidently execute planned activities with groups of children
- Support a calm, positive, and engaging environment before and after school
- Assist with snack preparation and daily routines
- Supervise both indoor and outdoor play environments
- Build positive, respectful relationships with children, families, and team members
- Support behaviour guidance using a calm, consistent, and caring approach
- Help ensure the program runs smoothly and transitions are supported
- Oversees the daily operation of one program
- Executes the planned activities and schedule
- Prepares materials and sets up activities before children arrive
- Supervises staff and children throughout the day
- Ensures licensing regulations, health and safety standards, and daily routines are followed
- Communicates with families at drop-off and pick-up
- Maintains supplies and program organization
(Programming and activities are planned by the team — your role is to bring them to life with energy, presence, and care.)

- Organized and detail Oriented
- Confident leading groups of children in both indoor and outdoor settings
- Calm, patient, and able to manage a busy environment
- Comfortable being active and outdoors in all types of weather
- A strong communicator and supportive teammate
- Able to follow direction while also showing initiative
- Experienced in childcare, education, recreation, or youth programming (an asset, not required)
- Must have Clean Criminal record, 19 years of age, RA certificate and or 20 hrs childcare related courses, valid first aid certificate
