The Integrated Service Centre ("ISC") is a newly formed unit within UBC that will align practices and processes from Human Resource, Financial Operations, Comptroller's Office, Student Services, and Information Technology. In supporting UBC's transition to an enterprise Workday Enterprise Resource Planning ("ERP") Cloud-based system, the ISC will provide a single, integrated service that will initially include Financial and Human Capital management services and later expand to include Student and Enterprise Planning. The ISC will seek to continuously improve and adapt to future needs and requirements of UBC while providing a simple, intuitive, consistent user experience for UBC students, staff, faculty, and community partners.
The Quality Assurance & Tester (QAT) prepares and executes complex testing for product development and deployment of updates and improvements for the University Community. This Incumbent applies subject matter expertise and critical thinking to develop strategic plans for designing, running and tracking testing activities, managing defect triage processes. Provides reporting to senior leadership on test quality indicators and improving testing processes and standards
Organizational Status
Reports to the Delivery Manager. Works in partnership on a team that is accountable for executing the delivery of releases, enhancements and product major changes. Partners across the Application Sustainment team to provide effective improvement services. Frequently engages across the ISC to understand product roadmap and backlog, including interdependencies and impacts.
Work Performed
Assesses testing needs utilizing a structured requirements process (gathering, analyzing, detailing, and managing changes) to recommend testing approach and priorities.
Builds test plans relating to various testing stages, business data validation, integration, reporting.
Crafts scenarios and test cases, procures test data, executes tests, and documents results as needed.
Performs in-depth troubleshooting of testing activities of one or more IRP workstreams (HCM, FIN, STU, SD&D) using the knowledge of testing.
Analyzes and reviews testing options and discusses approach and recommendations with QA Analyst and Testers
Identifies, analyzes and documents bugs through execution of test cases or ad-hoc testing as needed.
Develops business data validation, integration, and reporting testing processes and procedures
Tracks and verifies defect resolution using defect tracking system
Performs preliminary pre-defined shortlist of tests for tenants to ensure core functionality is working as expected before it is released for a test cycle.
Validates configuration setup in tenants as required
Builds and maintains good working relationships with functional and configuration analyst, business analysts, subject matter authorities, client partners, and consultants.
Evaluates and recommends opportunities for test automation and performance testing.
Builds automated test scripts as needed.
Develops and maintains document templates for test plans and standards for testing.
Provides testing and validation services to ensure Workday program and projects meet organizational standards and end-user requirements.
Reviews implementation options and discuss approach and recommendations.
Identifies, elicits, and documents business requirements from a testing perspective and participates in test execution and tracking through the use of Jama (specifically in creating test sets, test cycles, dashboards, etc.). Participate in defect management and tracking using prescribed tools.
Ensures all requirements, test cases and defects are categorized and traced accordingly for accurate traceability and metrics reporting.
Collects, reports, and analyzes testing and defect status.
Collaborates with ISC Managers in workstream defect triage and daily stand-up meetings.
Partners across the ISC to align work, priorities and practices and to determine if enhancements and improvements meet University needs and are operating as designed.
Partners with relevant partners and clients to resolve issues related to engagement, adoption, sustainment, and continuous improvement.
Maintains appropriate professional designations and up-to-date knowledge of current information technology techniques and tools.
Attends meetings to report on the status of testing, communicate RAID (Risks, Action, Issues, Decisions), implement testing standards and policies, and communicate testing schedule
Crafts materials for testing kick-offs, testing trainings, or other testing related topics.
Setup and co-ordinate meeting with clients and partners for activities for ISC service delivery
Other related duties as the need arises.
Consequence of Error/Judgement
Contributes to the broader Application Sustainment team and UBC's IT strategies. Supports decision-making regarding the design and maintenance of an existing large, complex and campus-wide product. Focusing on partnerships and product delivery will ensure optimal functionality and customer satisfaction in support of ISC's strategic goals.
Supervision Received
Reports to the Delivery Manager. Work in partnership on a team with wide latitude across the ISC. Work is reviewed in terms of quality, achievement against objectives, and focus on collaboration and innovation.

Minimum Qualifications
Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline. Minimum of three years of related experience, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
