The PCBA Programmer/Technician is responsible for maintaining, programming, and supporting all PCB Assembly (PCBA) production and facility equipment, including SMT and PTH processes such as wave and selective soldering. This role ensures optimal equipment performance, minimal downtime, and compliance with safety, quality, and operational standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform preventive maintenance (PM) on all production and process equipment according to the established PM program.
- Maintain accurate preventive maintenance logs.
- Troubleshoot and repair equipment issues to minimize downtime.
- Keep machine downtime to a minimum through rapid response and root cause resolution.
- Notify Supervisor or Lead Hand of abnormal conditions.
- Create, maintain, and optimize programs for all PCBA equipment.
- Set up and program:
- Solder paste printers
- Pick-and-place machines
- SPI (Solder Paste Inspection) systems
- 3D Automated Optical Inspection (AOI) systems
- Wave solder machines (PTH)
- Selective wave soldering systems
- Maintain backups of all programs and ensure documentation is current.
- Optimize machine programs for efficiency, quality, and throughput.

- Provide technical support to PCBA production lines.
- Work collaboratively in a team environment to ensure smooth operations.
- Create and update work instructions for SMT and line assembly processes.
- Identify and recommend process and equipment improvements.
- Follow all safety rules and regulations at 100% compliance.
- Adhere to SOPs, work instructions, training requirements, and best practices.
- Ensure compliance with IPC-A-610 standards and proper electronic component identification.
- Recommend and maintain required spare parts inventory for PCBA equipment.
- Maintain accurate records of all programs, logs, and documentation (hard copy and electronic)
- Provide ongoing technical support and guidance to production staff.
- Train operators in basic setup and preventive maintenance procedures.
- Strong knowledge of PCBA processes (SMT + PTH).
- Experience with:
- Pick-and-place equipment
- AOI and SPI systems
- Solder paste printers
- Wave and selective soldering systems
- Knowledge of electronic component identification.
- Familiarity with IPC-A-610 standards.
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Good documentation and organizational skills.
- Maintain accurate documentation and program backups.
- Ensure high-quality production output.
- Minimize equipment downtime and maximize uptime.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives across SMT and PTH processes.
