Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Personal Support Worker (PSW) to provide high-quality care and assistance to patients, particularly in pediatric and hospital settings. The ideal candidate will have experience working with children, a strong understanding of patient care, and familiarity with medical terminology. This role involves supporting patients' daily needs, assisting healthcare teams, and contributing to research and data collection efforts to improve patient outcomes. The PSW will play a vital role in fostering a safe, supportive, and nurturing environment for those in their care.
Duties
- Assist patients with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, mobility, and feeding
- Support pediatric patients and those in hospital settings with personalized care plans
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient support
- Collect and document data related to patient health, behavior, and progress for research purposes
- Maintain accurate records of patient interactions and care activities
- Support case management efforts by coordinating services and communicating effectively with families and medical teams
- Utilize medical terminology appropriately when documenting or communicating patient information
- Assist with special education needs for pediatric patients requiring tailored educational support
- Ensure a safe environment by adhering to safety protocols and infection control procedures
Skills
- Experience working with children in healthcare or educational settings is highly desirable
- Knowledge of hospital procedures, patient care standards, and medical terminology
- Strong research skills with the ability to collect, organize, and analyze data effectively
- Familiarity with pediatrics and special education requirements for young patients
- Excellent communication skills for collaborating with healthcare teams, patients, and families
- Compassionate demeanor with a genuine interest in supporting patient well-being
- Ability to adapt to different care environments and handle sensitive situations professionally
- Prior experience in case management or patient advocacy is a plus
