Maple Leaf Construction Ltd. is a prominent heavy civil construction company based in Winnipeg, Manitoba, proudly operating since 1943. We deliver a wide range of services, from minor repairs and maintenance jobs to large-scale commercial and infrastructure projects. These services include commercial development, concrete and asphalt paving, site services, residential developments, street reconstruction, as well as highway rehabilitation.
The Opportunity
We’re looking for a skilled Truck & Transport Technician who thrives in a hands-on environment and can work independently. If you have strong diagnostic skills and experience repairing on-road trucks and equipment, we want to hear from you.
What You’ll Do
- Inspect, diagnose, and repair:
- Diesel and internal combustion engines
- Transmissions and drivetrains
- ABS, suspension, and air brake systems
- Hydraulic, electrical, and auxiliary systems
- Perform Manitoba Government Safety Inspections (MGSI), if certified
- Use computer-based diagnostic tools
- Support and mentor apprentices (journeyman level)
- Maintain accurate service records
- Assist with additional duties as required
What You Bring
- High school diploma or equivalent experience
- Level 2 Apprentice to Journeyman certification (or equivalent hands-on experience)
- Strong mechanical and diagnostic skills
- Comfortable using computers and diagnostic software
- Welding experience is an asset
- MGSI certification is an asset
What You’ll Need
- Your own set of mechanic’s hand tools (required on day one)
- Valid Manitoba Class 5 driver’s licence
- Class 3 or 1 with Air Brake endorsement is an asset
- Clear communication skills (written and verbal)
- Ability to:
- Work extended hours and occasional weekends
- Lift up to 100 lbs
- Work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Travel locally for field and mobile repairs
