Electrical Engineer
Job Description:
Responsibilities include working in a a productive, high quality and customer focused MEP engineering team for diversified market sectors. You will manage a wide variety of projects from the initial design phase through to the on-site contract administration as it relates to Electrical Engineering involving building, architectural, HVAC and plumbing systems. Candidates must have experience in the design of electrical building systems design for clients in residential, educational, commercial, industrial, and healthcare markets and shall be able to prepare complete electrical working drawings, construction details and specifications within a BIM model, in a collaborative and team environment. The candidate should be self-motivated, sincere, conscientious and detail-oriented with strong communication skills in a professional manner. Candidates should have sound organizational skills and enjoy working on technical aspects of building design projects in a fast-paced and supportive environment within a multi discipline team. Must be highly experienced with Revit, BIM and AutoCAD software (latest edition), and proficient with MS Office productivity software. A strong familiarity with the Ontario Building Code, Ontario Electrical Safety Code, IEEE and knowledge of building science and construction detailing as it relates to specifically to electrical design will be required, along with a strong motivation for continual learning. A working knowledge of photometrics, lighting design, product specifications and building management systems. A familiarity with green building design and energy modelling & auditing will also be an asset. This position will lead to a senior role with the capacity to lead and manage multiple projects as part of the growth plans of the company.
Job Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
- Ontario licensed P. Eng. In good standing
- 10+ years’ experience in electrical analysis and design for buildings (new and retrofit construction) ideally in consulting
- Knowledge of relevant codes and standards (OBC, OESC, NFPA)
- Knowledge and experience producing 3D models and 2D mechanical/HVAC engineering drawings using Revit and AutoCAD in a BIM environment
- Knowledge and application of applicable software for load calculations and IEEE, Dialux.
- Require knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
- General understanding of all phases of project document production and the relationship between drawings and specifications
- Ability to participate and collaborate in project team setting and to engage in creative, critical and pragmatic thought
- Strong focus on quality and the ability to check your own work and work of others for accuracy and completeness and manage time to meet project budget and schedule
- Field experience on construction sites, conducting general reviews for compliance with drawings and specifications and writing reports
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to function with minimum supervision
