Position Summary
We are seeking a motivated and safety-focused Overhead Crane Technician to join our team. The successful candidate will perform inspections, maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, testing, and installations on overhead cranes, hoists, lifting devices, and related material handling equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform inspections in accordance with applicable standards, including CSA B167 and ASME B30.
- Conduct preventive maintenance on overhead cranes, hoists, monorails, jib cranes, gantry cranes, and lifting devices.
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and structural issues.
- Complete load testing and operational testing of cranes and hoists.
- Install, commission, and modernize crane systems and controls.
- Inspect wire rope, load chain, hooks, below-the-hook lifting devices, and associated components.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and mechanical drawings.
- Complete service reports, inspection reports, and documentation accurately and professionally.
- Communicate effectively with customers regarding equipment conditions and repair recommendations.
- Follow all company safety procedures and client site requirements.
Qualifications
Required:
- Mechanical and electrical troubleshooting experience.
- Ability to work at heights and in industrial environments.
- Strong understanding of safe work practices.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to travel to customer sites and occasionally work overtime.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred:
- Experience with overhead cranes, hoists, or industrial maintenance.
- Industrial Electrician, Millwright, Crane Technician, or related trade certification.
- Knowledge of CSA B167, ASME B30, CMAA, and relevant occupational health and safety regulations.
- Experience with VFDs, radio controls, PLCs, and motor controls.
- Fall Protection, Elevated Work Platform, Confined Space, and First Aid certifications.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs (23 kg).
- Comfortable working in manufacturing facilities, warehouses, power plants, and industrial environments.
- Ability to stand, walk, kneel, and perform physical work throughout the day.
