BACKDOOR CAFÉ SUPERVISOR @ THE SKYLINE LODGE
Reports to: Guest Services Lead
The BackDoor Café Supervisor works at the BackDoor Café at the Skyline Lodge at the base of the Skyline Chair. They provide guest services such as ticket sales and a limited food & beverage menu to guests while ensuring the facility is operated in a professional manner. Suggestions of events, food specials and unique ideas to promote the BackDoor Café at the Skyline Lodge are greatly encouraged. The BackDoor Cashier should take ownership of the café and we encourage the individual to “make it their own".
This position would be suitable for someone who has a full-time job and wants to spend their Saturdays and Sundays providing an invaluable guest service at Hudson Bay Mountains BackDoor Lodge or someone interested in this as well as one of HBMR’s other available positions.
Key Responsibilities
- Opens and closes the café
- Cleaning of the cafeteria, ensuring consumables are well stocked
- Host BBQ’s throughout the season with the help of the Outdoor Operations team
- Promotion of the BackDoor Café’s specials and events by mean of the HBMR social media (Facebook posts and stories, Instagram posts and stories and posters.)
- Cleaning of the bathroom, ensuring supplies are well stocked
- Maintains adequate inventory and notifies Manager / Lead when short
- Follows all health and safety procedures
- Maintains a tidy and organized work area
- Issues tickets for guests
- Provide documentation and reasons for ALL discounts, refunds
- Ensures guest payments are taken in a timely and professional manner
- Answers all inquiries about mountain activities, directs guests to appropriate help
- Looks for opportunities to offer additional services
- Notifies Manager / Lead of any incidents
- Handles cash and balances against system
- Works cooperatively in a team based environment
- Carries out other related duties as assigned in a variety of departments
Qualifications
- Ability to ski at or snowboard at an intermediate (or better) level an asset
- Good organization and attention to details
- Ability to work with Canva and HBMR’s social media channels
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the general public
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule
- Self-motivated, able to work on your own
- Ability to handle moderate physical lifting and movement
- Organized with strong administrative and time management skills

Education and Experience, Certificates and Licenses
- Education: High school diploma is an asset.
- Experience: At least one year related experience is preferred
- Previous customer service experience required
