COOEC is currently seeking a highly motivated and experienced Instrumentation & Controls Engineer-in-Training (EIT) to join our team on a full-time basis. This role will be office based in Calgary, AB.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist senior engineers in the development of instrumentation and control designs from conceptual through implementation stages.

Develop detailed design packages for instrumentation and control systems, including specifications, datasheets, and drawings.

Create and Review I & C engineering documentation including:

Control Architecture / Communication Network drawings
-
LOOP drawings / IO schematics / IO lists
-
Shut down keys
-
Control narratives
-
Logic Diagrams
-
P&ID development
-
Instrument datasheets
-
Design and implement control system architectures, including PLC/DCS systems and HMI configurations.

Collaborate with multi-discipline teams to ensure seamless integration of instrumentation and controls into overall project designs.

Participate in site visits and commissioning activities to learn practical application of designs. Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and regulations.
Qualifications:

Holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical, chemical (process control) engineering or equivalent.

Understanding and application of technical principles, theories, and concepts in the Oil and Gas field.

Basic knowledge of instrumentation and control devices (transmitters, valves, etc.).

Basic knowledge of mechanical equipment (motors, pumps, and compressors).

Basic knowledge of DeviceNet, Modbus TCP, Ethernet/IP communication protocols

Ability to interpret P&IDs.

Competence in control system design and review software and tools such as AutoCAD, Bluebeam and various vendor sizing software.

Prior EPCM experience is an asset.

Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.

Strong understanding of industry standards (e.g., ISA, API, CSA).

Able to work independently while contributing effectively within a team.

Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation or eligibility for registration with APEGA is required.
