Job Description
We are seeking a compassionate, reliable, and experienced Home Support Worker to provide full-time care for an elderly individual living with dementia.
A live-in arrangement is preferred due to the need for consistent support, supervision, and continuity of care. The caregiver will help ensure the patient’s safety, dignity, comfort, and well-being while assisting with daily living activities and providing companionship.
Responsibilities
- Assist with personal care, including bathing, grooming, and dressing.
- Prepare and serve meals according to dietary needs.
- Provide medication reminders and monitoring.
- Provide supervision for safety, including fall prevention and wandering prevention.
- Assist with mobility and daily routines.
- Provide companionship, reassurance, and emotional support.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and comfortable living environment.
- Assist with nighttime supervision when required.
Requirements

- Experience supporting individuals with dementia or memory-related conditions is preferred.
- Patient, trustworthy, compassionate, reliable, and respectful.
- Able to work independently in a home environment.
- First Aid/CPR certification is an asset.
- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
- Candidates requiring LMIA support may be considered.
Language Requirement
English communication is required for general communication with the employer, family members, and healthcare providers.
Filipino/Tagalog language ability is strongly preferred and may be required for effective patient care, as the patient is familiar with the language and may lose the ability to communicate effectively in English as dementia progresses.
For patient safety, comfort, and communication, the caregiver should be able to provide reassurance, instructions, and emotional support in Filipino/Tagalog when needed.
Accommodation
A private room will be provided in the employer’s home.
Meals may be included or arranged and will be discussed with the successful candidate.
Work Schedule
Full-time: 30–40 paid hours per week.
Flexibility is required due to the patient’s care needs. Occasional overnight supervision may be required and will be addressed in the written employment agreement.
Wage and Employment Terms
$25.00 per hour, based on 30–40 paid hours per week.
The employee will be paid for all hours worked. The work schedule, regular paid hours, rest periods, accommodation arrangements, meal arrangements, and any required overnight supervision will be agreed to in writing.
Compensation will meet or exceed applicable British Columbia employment standards, including any applicable minimum wage or minimum daily wage requirements for live-in care arrangements.
Vacation pay, statutory holiday pay, overtime, and other employment entitlements will be provided in accordance with British Columbia Employment Standards, where applicable.
For candidates requiring LMIA support, the wage will meet or exceed the applicable prevailing wage requirement for the occupation and work location.
Pay: $20.00-$25.00 per hour
