Job Summary
Pinnacle Acres, a leading 38-acre indoor cucumber farm, is seeking a passionate and experienced Head Grower to join our team. This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in horticulture and a deep understanding of plant care, climate control, and cultivation practices. As Head Grower, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of crop production—from irrigation and fertilization to pest management and team supervision. Your hands-on approach and attention to detail will be key in ensuring healthy plant growth and consistently high-quality yields, all while maintaining strict safety and operational standards.
Qualifications
- Minimum 4 years of proven experience in greenhouse agriculture, or at least 5 years of hands-on horticulture management.
- Hands-on experience and proficiency with Hoogendoorn and Priva systems is required.
- A diploma in agriculture or horticulture management is an asset but not a requirement.
- Strong knowledge of irrigation systems and plant care practices.
- Skilled in MS Office.
- Mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot and maintain farming equipment.
- Proficiency in using hand tools effectively for various tasks.
- Proficient in maths for accurate measurements and calculations.
- Fluent in English (oral and written); Spanish language skills are an asset.

Duties
- Strong communication skills to coordinate with Management, IMP Specialist, consultants and labour managers.
- Manage climate, irrigation, and fertigation systems tailored to cucumber production with confidence and precision.
- Quick to identify and resolve issues with irrigation systems, plant health, or crop performance.
- Check pH/E.C. daily.
- Handle the ordering and preparation of all fertilizers.
- Assist and coordinate planned spray applications, ensuring all procedures comply with regulatory standards.
- Calibrate sprayers and verify that application volumes meet legal requirements.
- Ensure proper cleaning and disposal of pesticide containers in accordance with the Pesticide Act Regulations.
- Maintain an accurate and ongoing inventory of all pesticides.
- Collaborate with the IPM Specialist regarding pest and disease activity, and monitor hotspot areas.
- Help with greenhouse cleaning and disinfection at the beginning and end of each crop cycle.
- Work with the food safety consultant to meet all program requirements and maintain compliance.
- Partner with the crop consultant to fine-tune climate and irrigation strategies for optimal results.

This role involves physical activity, including lifting up to 30 lbs and being on your feet, walking throughout the day.
While this covers the main duties, other tasks may be assigned to support the team and overall operations.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $85,000.00-$120,000.00 per year
