We are in search of an Earthworks Supervisor, to join our busy Demolition Company. The search is for someone who wishes to expand their knowledge in this field. Having a positive attitude is a must. You also must posses a higher than average aptitude and desire for your work. We want you if you are driven, have a high level of attention to detail, punctual, not afraid to work longer hours, and have a can do approach.
Experience in earthworks, demolition building construction, underground works and operating machinery is required. This is NOT a negotiation.
Earthworks Foreman Responsibilities:
- Allocate general and daily responsibilities.
- Ensure manpower and resources are adequate.
- Supervise the use of machinery and equipment.
- Drive quality, efficiency and productivity of work crews and ensure the crew has all required tools for their work, including PPE and emergency response measures.
- Assess and confirm, through documentation, crew competency.
- Identify equipment and labor resource requirements for task and their utilization.
- Adhere to project and company environmental considerations.
- Complete daily activity reports/daily logs.
- Work with project management to schedule and coordinate work tasks.
- Coordinate with other Foremen of subcontractors as required on the jobsite.
- Coordinate with shallow utility locaters when on the jobsite and ensure the crew clearly understands where all buried utilities are.
- Submit progress reports to ensure that the project is on track with deadlines that have been set out in the contract. Must ensure a solid understanding of, and comply with the principles of the company’s Code of Ethics. Must examine situations in light of the principles of the Code of Ethics.
- Promote safety in all activities and engage in safe work plan development, hazard assessments and mentorship with crew.
- Conduct daily and weekly safety meetings and inspections.
- Take corrective action to mitigate immediate hazards.
- Conduct incident investigations and prepare associated support documentation immediately.
- Promote, execute and adhere to the company’s safety program, and encourage all employees, subcontractors and consultants to adopt safety as a culture.

Earthworks Foreman Qualifications:
- Minimum ten (10) years Civil or Industrial Foreman, with experience in constructing with earthworks and remediation.
- In depth knowledge of construction procedures, equipment and OHS guidelines.
- Ability to read drawings, plans and blueprints.
- Excellent organizational and leadership with the ability to communicate and report effectively.
- Recognizes and understands the safe operation of heavy equipment and material handling.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills required.
- Must be a team player.
- Committed to working in a safe and efficient manner.
- Civil Engineering Technology or Construction Engineering Technology degree/diploma considered an asset.
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License
- Clean Driving Record
- CSA approved steel toed boots with 6” ankle support
- Road Building experience would be considered an asset.
- An ideal candidate would be willing to work out of town.
- Must live in Edmonton area
- The following training courses would be considered an asset: Leadership for Safety Excellence, Prime Contractor, CSTS-09, Ground Disturbance Level 2, H2S Awareness and WHMIS.
- Equipment GPS system experience is an asset
- Total station experience is an asset
