Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Observability & Dynatrace Platform Engineer to lead the implementation, adoption, and operationalization of its enterprise observability platform. This individual will serve as a technical subject matter expert responsible for helping migrate the organization from legacy monitoring solutions to a unified Dynatrace-based observability ecosystem. The role combines platform engineering, monitoring architecture, consulting, governance, automation, and enablement responsibilities.
Responsibilities
Dynatrace Platform Leadership
- Lead enterprise-wide Dynatrace implementation and adoption efforts.
- Design and implement observability standards, monitoring frameworks, and deployment patterns.
- Configure and maintain Dynatrace SaaS environments, ActiveGate infrastructure, and OneAgent deployments.
- Implement monitoring across infrastructure, applications, databases, containers, cloud services, and network devices.
- Design dashboards, alerts, reports, and executive-level visibility solutions.
- Develop standards for SLOs, SLAs, KPIs, thresholds, and alerting strategies.
- Drive adoption of Dynatrace AI/AIOps capabilities and proactive monitoring approaches.
- Infrastructure & Platform Monitoring
Support observability across:
- OpenShift clusters
- Kubernetes environments
- Azure services
- EKS and cloud-native workloads
- On-premises virtual machines
- Linux and Windows platforms
- Databases
- Network infrastructure (switches, routers, firewalls, load balancers)
- Hybrid cloud environments
Observability Architecture
- Establish long-term observability strategy and roadmap.
- Define monitoring onboarding standards for application teams.
- Create reusable patterns for instrumentation and telemetry collection.
- Assist with service mapping, dependency discovery, and topology visualization.
- Help develop a monitoring service catalog and chargeback/showback model.
Automation & Engineering
- Build automated deployment and upgrade pipelines for Dynatrace agents and ActiveGate components.
Integrate Dynatrace with CI/CD pipelines.
- Automate monitoring onboarding and configuration processes.
- Support Infrastructure as Code (IaC) approaches where applicable.
- Enable automated alert generation and incident management workflows.
Application & SRE Consulting
- Partner with development, platform, infrastructure, and SRE teams.
- Advise application teams on instrumentation best practices.
- Recommend custom metrics, traces, and observability enhancements.
- Define monitoring requirements during project initiation and solution design phases.
- Participate in architecture reviews and operational readiness reviews.
Security, Governance & Compliance
- Ensure observability solutions meet organizational security standards.
- Support SOC and future PCI compliance requirements.
- Establish governance controls around monitoring data collection and access.
- Assist with vulnerability monitoring and operational resilience initiatives.
- Ensure secure deployment and operation of observability components.
Training & Enablement
- Mentor internal monitoring and SRE teams.
- Deliver knowledge transfer sessions and technical workshops.
- Develop operational runbooks and implementation documentation.
- Build organizational competency around Dynatrace and modern observability practices.
Qualifications
- 7+ years in enterprise monitoring, observability, SRE, platform engineering, or infrastructure operations.
- 3+ years hands-on Dynatrace implementation experience.
- Experience leading enterprise observability transformations.
- Experience operating observability solutions across large-scale hybrid environments.
- Strong experience with:

- OpenShift platform administration experience.
- Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) experience.
- Cloud architecture and modernization experience.
- Experience developing observability operating models and governance frameworks
