The Golf Course Grounds Maintenance staff is responsible to perform the duties required to maintain the golf course to a level of excellence consistent with established standards for Pike Lake Golf Centre Limited.
Responsibilities/Duties:
· Cutting grass on fairways, roughs, greens and tees to Pike Lake’s established standards.
· Operate lawn mowers, tractors or other equipment as necessary.
· Clean equipment after use and perform required maintenance as per procedure defined by Golf Superintendent.
· Recording all gas/diesel usage of equipment on gas/diesel log sheets.
· Apply fertilizer as advised by Superintendent.
· Provide ongoing golf course maintenance including, but not limited to: watering grass, cleaning bunkers, changing golf hole pins, laying sod, tree trimming, leaf cleanup, patch cart paths, repair bridges, and level boardwalks.
· Assisting with the provision of irrigation and drainage to golf course, moving and maintaining portable pumps.
· Direct all customer complaints to Golf Superintendent/Assistant Superintendent in a timely manner to ensure customer satisfaction.
· Attend all staff meetings and training sessions as requested by Golf Superintendent/Assistant Superintendent.
· Adhere to all Health and Safety standards and the Pike Lake House Alcohol Policy.
· Perform any other duties as necessary.
· Report all equipment malfunctions to Golf Superintendent/Assistant Superintendent/Mechanic.
Job Requirements:
- Completed WHIMS training at Pike Lake.
- Possess a valid driver’s license.
- Follow safe procedures and direction from Golf Superintendent/Assistant Superintendent.
- Moderate physical strength and stamina.
- Ability to multi-task, establish priorities with attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently.
· Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
· Team player working co-operatively with other Pike Lake staff.
· Professional and positive work attitude is essential.
· Follow directions accurately and thoroughly given to by Golf Superintendent/Assistant Superintendent
Work Conditions:
· Need to be flexible to work days, evenings, and weekends depending on events.
· Overtime as required.
· He/she will be required to perform physical labour both indoors and outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.
· Prolonged standing, walking, lifting, squatting and bending.
· Long periods of time spent on riding equipment.
· Safety equipment will be required, e.g. steel-toed safety boots, safety glasses/goggles, ear protection, etc.
· Hazards associated with the trade, e.g. noisy with fumes.
· Golf Course conditions contain hazards such as terrain, golf balls and golfers. Employee must be aware of surroundings at all times.
Due to the risks associated with this job, the employee cannot be under the influence of medicinal or recreational cannabis, alcohol, or illicit drugs while at work. It is the employee’s responsibility to provide a signed doctor recommendation if they feel medicinal cannabis is necessary.
