Crescent Spur Heli-Fishing & Wilderness Adventures
Crescent Spur is a small, owner operated wilderness lodge located in central British Columbia, set along the Fraser River between the Northern Rockies and Cariboo Mountains. Our summer program offers a unique heli-fishing experience, flying guests by helicopter to access some of the most remote and untouched waters in the region.
With a strong focus on food as part of the guest experience, our kitchen delivers high quality, thoughtfully prepared meals in a remote lodge setting. As the Second Chef, you’ll work alongside a small team to support daily service, contribute to menu execution, and help maintain a smooth and organized kitchen. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys cooking in a fast paced but collaborative environment and is excited to live and work in a wilderness setting.
About the Role
As 2nd Chef, you’ll play a key role in the day to day kitchen operations, supporting the Head Chef in delivering high quality meals for guests. This is a hands on position with a mix of breakfast service, prep, and assisting with dinner, making it a great opportunity for someone who enjoys variety and wants to be part of a small, collaborative kitchen team.
Requirements
All applicants must:
- Be willing to relocate to a semi-remote lodge for the duration of the season
- Have previous experience working in a professional kitchen
- Be organized, efficient, and able to work cleanly under pressure
- Have a positive attitude and strong teamwork skills
- Be physically capable of handling long, active shifts on your feet
- Be legally eligible to work in Canada (Canadian citizen or valid work visa)
Previous experience in a remote lodge or similar environment is an asset.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Assist with daily breakfast preparation and service
- Prepare staff meals and assist with guest lunch components (including early morning packing/assembly as needed)
- Complete daily prep for upcoming services (e.g. slicing meats, preparing ingredients, baking simple items such as cookies or squares)
- Support the Head Chef with dinner prep, plating, and service
- Assist with basic menu preparation and execution across all meal periods
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of kitchen, prep areas, and food storage
- Receive and organize deliveries and stock
- Assist with dishwashing and end of day kitchen cleaning
- Interact with guests in a friendly and professional manner when required
- Support overall lodge operations and assist other departments as needed
Schedule & Hours
- Typically 6 days on, 1 day off per week
- 10 hour workdays are standard
- Some flexibility in scheduling may be possible depending on operational needs and team fit (to be discussed during hiring process)
Season Dates
- Tentative staff dates: July 12 – August 25
- Guest program runs: July 18 – August 22
- Staff are required for a few days before and after guest dates to assist with lodge setup and closing
Compensation & Details
- Wage based on experience, plus gratuities
- Staff accommodation and meals (room & board) are included as part of compensation
